FACTBOX: Four Ukrainian security service agents detained

The detainees may face up to 30 years in prison

MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained four female agents of Ukrainian security services in Sevastopol, Voronezh, and Rostov-on-Don. They were recruited to carry out terrorist attacks against high-ranking Russian military officers and conduct sabotage at fuel and energy facilities, the agency reported.

TASS has gathered the key details of the case as of now.

Details of the detention

- In Sevastopol, Voronezh, and Rostov-on-Don, FSB officers detained four women - agents of Ukrainian special services - who were recruited to conduct terrorist attacks against high-ranking officers of the Russian Defense Ministry and carry out sabotage at fuel and energy facilities.

- According to the FSB, the detainees were trained in Ukraine to use small arms, mines, and explosive devices, operate UAVs, and identify outdoor surveillance.

- During searches of their accommodations, officers seized numerous explosive devices, chemical precursors for creating them, electronic detonators, instructions for making explosives, and communication devices linking them to their Ukrainian handlers.

- The women were not directly related to each other. Only two of them, who were detained in Rostov-on-Don, turned out to be former classmates.

- The FSB investigative units have initiated criminal proceedings for terrorist offenses.

- The detainees may face up to 30 years in prison.

- Measures are underway to identify and bring to justice those who assisted them in their illegal activities.

Confessions

- All the women gave their confessions.

- One of the detainees in Rostov-on-Don said that she was recruited in 2023 via Telegram. She arrived in the city in late November 2024 to carry out assignments from the Ukrainian intelligence services to gather data on top Defense Ministry figures, high-ranking officials, and their families.

- According to the other detainee, they got materials for making explosive devices from outlets in Rostov-on-Don, through online retailers, and from caches prepared by their handlers.

- Another woman, who was detained in Sevastopol, said that she had joined the Bars regiment on the assignment of the Ukrainian security services and was planning to stage a terrorist attack. According to her, she met her handler at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Czech Republic.

- The woman who was detained in Voronezh has confessed to preparing a terrorist attack against a high-ranking serviceman.
