Fiction
2005 IDW continuity
About 200,000 years before the war began, Frak and his buddy Rushcut were mining Energon when he uncovered a strange green spark that emitted a flash of light. Unnerved, Rushcut alerted Momus, the foreman, who called in the find as a "code 113". The Functionist Council sent the Authenticator Three-of-Twelve to verify that the spark was a viable "Point One Percenter" and Momus was rewarded by being reclassified as "alt mode exempt", meaning he could follow a career of his own choosing. Asking if he might be rewarded with a drill-hand, Frak was coldly informed that having been exposed to the spark's first flash, he and Rushcut had about six hours to live. Remembrance Day
Notes
- "Frak" is a fictional expletive from the original Battlestar Galactica TV series (though it would be used far more frequently in the reimagined version). It was also the title of a 1984 computer game wherein the protagonist would exclaim "Frak!" via a speech bubble as he died.
- In relation to mining, the homophone "fracking" is a contraction of "hydraulic fracturing", a method of extracting gases from rock.
