Optimus, Bumblebee and Lockdown discuss the choice of bosses in Mystery of Convoy.

Synopsis

Having died on the first boss of Mystery of Convoy Returns, Lockdown doesn't recognize the character and asks where it's from, and Optimus Prime and Bumblebee reveal it as a game-original character, the Machine Planet Devilstar. Lockdown is bewildered by the fact that they wasted a boss fight on an unidentifiable new character, and only gets more confused when Optimus reveals that the second boss is a Destron Mark. While Optimus and Bumblebee optimistically explain the Destron Mark, saying it's a tough boss in the original game and shows up in another color in Returns' third level, Lockdown argues that bosses should be well-known characters like Starscream and Soundwave, growing increasingly exasperated when Bumblebee mentions that Soundwave isn't in the game and Starscream is a regular enemy. Optimus and Bumblebee defend the choice of bosses in Returns as a faithful remake of the original, but Lockdown instead sees it as a betrayal of Transformers fans as a whole, and the three end up discussing a way to justify the Destron Mark.

Optimus Prime believes that it's hard to make graphics that stand out in 8-bit sprite format, so settling for a recognizable shape like a symbol is a good solution. The others find his explanation pessimistic and move onto Bumblebee, who suggests that the Destron Mark would be fine if it also appeared in the original work, as the villain at the end or something. Lockdown compares this to the mysterious shadowed villains that often appeared in the anime openings of their youth, but while these were always revealed to be someone else in the end, in this case, the silhouette of the Destron Mark would turn out to be exactly that. After having a laugh at a joke from Bumblebee that it'd look like the Demon Wall, they agree that this would please fans of the original, and Lockdown tells Optimus to try harder next time.
