Lots of thoughts recently. Everything feels plastic.


I could go on and on about why all that AI "art" is bad. I could mention theft, lack of creativity, it's impact on the work field and environment, but countless people have already said all that. I wanted to touch on something that to me is the most utterly wrong about all of it.


Art is more than just something pretty to look at or listen to. It's therapeutic. It's a form of communication. A tool for human connection. It's a pure, human need.

...does anyone have any good substance painter alternatives or a way to acquire substance painter without putting myself into debt?

i'm trying to dip my toe into texture painting in blender but uhhhhhh hell? satan? the devil? and people say SP is great but uhh two hundred dollar? and/or a 90+ dollar monthly subscription? huh??

i also tried free sp alternatives and tbh, none of them worked?? (including quixel mixer and armor paint) either i couldnt figure them out or they just werent really meant for character model texturing idk.

i use a blender addon instead called Ucupaint instead!! and learned to make different brushes in blender and such too to help. its worked out pretty great so far, albeit ive had some bugs when dealing with the normal painting though so beware if u wanna texture a normal map it might end up being finicky. but ive textured several of my models using just this addon so far and its worked out great as ive learned to use it better!

I can't believe i'm going to be this big of a dork over Mario Kart Worlds but:

I am so infinitely torn up about this because on the one hand allowing players to race as goofy characters like a Cow, Pianta, Biddbud or Snowman is extremely charming and adorable...

But if you needed an extended cast in order to fill out a roster for races that have 24 people in it maximum, you really want to make the roster this big and you decide NOT to include deep cut legacy characters like anyone from the Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, or original Mario RPG???

I'm gonna be so mad.
