Update
I’ve just done a big update on all my themes. If anyone using one of my themes finds that something is broken, just go back to pastebin for the updated code.
This update includes fixing the ever-favourite Steampunk Theme!

Star Trek LCARS Theme: Live Preview | Code
“LCARS” is a computer operating system within the Star Trek universe, an acronym for “Library Computer Access/Retrieval System”. Consoles in the TNG, DS9 and VOY series all use this GUI system.
Features:
- Adjusts both height and width-ways to any monitor.
- The sidebar scrolls before it gets to tall, so you can write as much as you want in it, even add images.
- Add as many links as you want using tumblr’s link system.
- You can rename those links to neat Trekkie-lingo.
- ALL colours are customisable.
- But there are some preset colour schemes too you would rather use those.
- The date above each post can be reformatted (DMY, MDY, YMD)
- And more! Check out all customise options here.

Just a small point of interest, my ‘likes’ page is full of themes I adore and other tips and tidbits. If you’re into the kind of themes I make and want to see more by other theme makers, I suggest you browse through the page linked.
(On a side-note, Star Trek and Christmas themes are on their way!)
So I’m a huge perfectionist when it comes to my blog banners ever since tumblr made it a feature. I even made myself a photoshop-file template to arrange things nicely and crop and adjust colours before uploading it to tumblr.
Now I’m making it available to my followers. Now it is a photoshop file, made in CS4 compatibility mode so unfortunately only some of you will be able to use it. The download for it is here. It comes with organised layers and guidelines to help you out if you’re a perfectionist like me.
For those who can’t use the file, I’m going to give you a rundown here.
Banners
Your uploaded banner should be at least 625x353px. For HD use1250x706px. Use jpgs for fast loading times.
When displayed on the side of the dashboard your banner will appear slightly smaller but the dimension ratio will stay the same. You don’t have to worry about anything being cropped out.
Do not round the corners of your banner (as shown in the preview). Tumblr will do that automatically.
Icons
Uploaded icons should be at least 128x128px, but it displays in the preview as 96x96px.
Even if you choose to display your icon as circular on the settings page, you still need to upload a square image.

Sherlock theme v.2: Live Preview | Code
This is an updated version of my Sherlock theme.
Existing Features:
- Popup navigation menu when you mouse over the smiley.
- Infinite scrolling.
- Simple layout using the same white text from the series.
- Static nav menu (so you don’t have to scroll back to the top to find it.)
- Custom font sizes and link-hover colour.
- Optional RSS and Archive links in the nav menu.
New Features:
- Time posted, notecount and tags now appear beside each post when the posts is hovered over instead of being permanently fixed beneath it.
- The navigation menu for the smiley face now runs on css alone, no javascript. It is also fixed in place this time so that it doesn’t overlap the main content.
- Custom links are no longer listed in the customise options as “link 1, url 1, link 2, url 2, etc…” With the Javascript no longer causing a problem with showing your regular page links, those are back and fully operational.
- There are also a few small improvements to the layout of the permalink pages.
Version 3
- Now has a place for a title and description
- Sidebar appears when hovering over the smilie face
- This hover option can be turned off so that the sidebar is always visible

EDIT: This theme has been retired(?)
Steampunk Theme: Live Preview | Code
The most complicated theme I have ever made. Based on the Steampunk aesthetic, this theme is full of moving parts and detail galore. The only downside is it may take a while for the page to load the first time you view it, but it’s totally worth it.
Features:
- Contains a ‘functional’ cog, pulley and weight system that moves with the page as you scroll.
- Custom background colour.
- Unlimited links. Your first 6 links display as fancy buttons to the right of your description. If you have more than 6 links, the rest display below your description.
- Optional infinite scroll.
- Custom sidebar image. Upload any square image and it’ll resize to fit.
- Border and link colours are customisable.
- Description scrolls when it gets too long.
- Special formatting for the new reblogged asks.
- Like buttons and reblog buttons on every post.
- Works on all major browsers (yes, even IE).
A lot of images have been used to make this theme, from all over the internet. Take time to check out the page where I have credited them all.
Gawd I just have to rant about this theme.
I love it.
I’ve been trying to change my theme for awhile now and I every time I go to my blog i just remember how much I live for this theme. That may sound like an exaggeration but it is not. Okay this theme doesn’t use Java or Flash like it could to add the interactive bits, it uses the same three things that all websites are built off of. Same. Three. And just look at that functionality.
The thing with programming is it’s actually really simple. Once you’ve go the basics down, everything just goes ontop of that. Anyone who knows HTML, CSS, and Javascript could program this in theory. There are just some issues with that.
Who has the willpower? I visit around fifty websites a day and I’ve never come across one that even comes close to this level of user functionality. All the while, the webpage is not bloated. It takes the same amount of time to load this theme as it does any other theme. Awesome.
Despite what I said early, this is probably some of the most complex level programming possible with your three basic ingredients and all so someone could see it on their dash and go “Oh, nifty”. The sad part is that that is what it’s like being a programming. If you are doing your job well, people shouldn’t think of you. As a programmer you are suppose to be invisible, it’s not about you, it’s about what you make and share with the world. So as a programer Eris put in an insane amount of time and effort into this theme and they’re not even getting paid for it.
So lets recap, Eris put an insane amount of time and effort into a theme that they are receiving hardly any renown or monetary payback for. This theme of which whose complexity puts a large amount of fully fledged websites to shame, and Eris is just sharing it with us.
Okay now I just have to rant about the symbolism here. How much effort went into a steampunk theme. Steampunk, where grand extravagant things are built with little tiny building blocks brass and steam. The concept of this tumblr theme is built and weaved inside of itself. This extravagant, user minded, steampunk theme is completely in line with clockwork cities and horizons made of airships.
To me this theme is just perfection served up in a simple block of text, and I can not get over how much I love this theme.
Thank you, Kerreal!
