Character Playlists Masterpost

So I have a thing whenever I get into a new fandom about finding songs that match the characters. I have…a few different current ones, as might be rather evident, so I’m going to make a list of songs I associate with the characters! If I’ve made an edit already associated with that song I’ll link it to the song title. And this is going to get YouTube playlists made specifically for each one (Right now they’re all jumbled in one big playlist called ‘Write Things Heather’, yes I am passive aggressive to myself in playlist naming) that I’ll link to the character name!

“I Have Made Mistakes” - The Oh Hellos

I love the fact that “In the Wind” lets Jesse be flawed and have failed in the past, while still giving him the chance to make things right. I probably shouldn’t be surprised that it inspired both this edit and my fic “Reversible Errors”. Because the only thing I love more than a good complex character is a found father/son dynamic, and I have entirely too much fun exploring that with H and Jesse…

I have a very rough idea in my head that I don’t think I can clearly articulate beyond “And that concludes tonight’s reports on German air forc—WHAT’S THIS? IT’S KING ARTHUR WITH A STEEL CHAIR”

IDK what this is about, but I want to know more.

This isn’t exactly the same idea but it could be but there is more rattling around in here so:

  • The Blitz here manages to qualify as Britain’s Darkest Hour, thus triggering the return of Arthur from the Realm Avalon.
  • He does not speak a lick of modern English. He speaks an unholy mishmash of Brittonic and Late Classical Latin.
  • (Honestly I can see the latter becoming a plot point if they manage to get their hands on a Roman Catholic priest to act as a translator. It wouldn’t be a perfect arrangement, but probably better than anything else.)
  • Truthfully he probably gets mistaken for a madman.
  • Somehow manages to steal a Spitfire out from under the RAF’s nose, proceeds to use it to bring down like half an enemy squadron on his own, then lands in a field in the middle of nowhere.
  • Police and RAF converge on his location on account of the whole “stealing a plane” thing. They eventually overwhelm him with sheer numbers, but he manages to knock out an impressive number of them in the process. I mean, come on. It’s Arthur.

“a catholic priest” i mean yeah sure why not but JRRTOLKIEN himself was alive and a teacher at the time so go big or go home.

You know what sure why not let’s just make literal real-life JRRT himself a character in this Arthurian return story, he deserves it.

I love how varied and universally weird the circumstances for making lifelong friendships are. Here’s this guy I accidentally messaged once and I could not imagine my life without them now. Here’s this girl I was so scared of when I met her, I would kill for her and remind her to rest on the regular. Here’s this other guy we have so much in common we used to joke we were the same person in different timelines. It took us years to meet in person and I attended his wedding. There are also people who entered my life in absolutely unremarkable ways but changed it forever for the better. It’s wonderful how easy it is to find people to love.
