Too many writers are using generative 'AI' to make their book covers, so I've written a guide on how to make your own cover for free or cheap without turning to a machine.

If you can't afford to pay an artist, you CAN make your own!

I hope this is a helpful overview that covers the basics and points to some free resources.

when the objectively bad person has traumatic and honestly reasonable reasons for why theyre like that but it doesnt excuse their actions and only serves to make them more tragic as a character

i wish i could scoop out all the words and stories inside my head with a butter knife and spread it onto a document and that was it

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.

truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. i think quadruped werewolves should enjoy going on walks but like. they should just talk the whole time. walking your dog and having a very serious conversation about calculus. some random stranger is like "oh your dog is so pretty can i pet her? awww who's a good girl" and the werewolf is just like "man come on" and the stranger jumps out of their skin about it

as a general rule im a big fan of "werewolf who is mostly indistinguishable from an actual wolf but is smart as shit as a human"

college professor who's 10 minutes late to class and has never been there less than five minutes early before. right as everyone is starting to wonder, a massive, incredibly embarrassed looking white wolf pads into the lecture hall holding a textbook in their mouth and then proceeds to jump up into their office chair and circle in it and sit like a dog. their only explanation for why they are inexplicably a wolf is "yeah so something happened but it's fine i can still teach"

and then the 2 hours of linear algebra is taught by a large fluffy wolf. and they can't use their textbook (paws) or write out any examples (paws again) and have to jump up on the desk to look at people's practice problems, but they make it work
