one thing i think about constantly lately is people being genuinely convinced that the team did not know or did not care about spencer's addiction. this is, like, a common thing especially in tiktok comment sections and im lowkey FED UP, because, first of all, why are we pretending like the show is showing the characters' whole entire lives??? they, logically enough, do exist out of the job as well, no matter how time consuming it is, and they do have conversations out of work as well, because the team is more than just a bunch of colleagues. it would not be authentic at all if they dealt with that stuff at work, because it would realistically get reid fired. which leads me to my second point and that's simply the fact that the job, working in the fbi with the bau, means everything to spencer. he said it himself multiple times throughout the series (and even if he wouldn't it is literally obvious) and losing it, ESPECIALLY at the time he had problems with the dilaudid and was dealing with the trauma that tobias caused to him, would kill him. literally or not, it doesn't matter. and the team knew that. once again, even just talking about it at work would be dangerous. and then we have emily who'd seen this stuff before in matthew, she would not leave reid alone in that, it would be insanely out of character.
they did know, because they are profilers and they did care, because they are family, not pointing it out during cases makes perfect sense, its just simple as that to me.
im not quite sure where i was going with this, perhaps i needed to complain, because people being mad at the team for 'not helping' are a bit infuriating to me (hot take?) and my friends are fed up with me yapping about it all the time, lmao
