If you actually want to talk about the animal that's caused the most deaths in Australia (other than white ppl) I'd argue it was the introduction of sheep and cows (both through violence by settlers and the environmental and ecological impact ). but of course that doesn't count because it's a consequence of colonialism and not an animal acting out of the unique evil malice in its heart that all things native to Australia possess (don't interrogate that idea too much)

help out a trans woman in need

hi everyone, i'm a disabled, chronically ill and as of this week, unemployed trans woman from south america, and i live with a mother undergoing cancer treatment. things have taken a turn for the worse lately as i got laid off from my two jobs and my house's electrical wiring started shorting every day on top of struggling to help my mom with her treatment.

i know i'm asking a lot and it always fills me with shame but i need to ask for help yet again to cover the repair bills and expenses related to my mom's treatment. if there's anything you can spare, even a reblog, i would be immensely grateful to you all

the fact is that basically no social media site is ever going to be twitter-at-its-peak-sized again and this is good

twitter at its peak (2021, just before the musk buyout) employed almost 8,000 people, riding investor money through those costs. even after musk came through and "downsized" it all, twitter still has nearly 3,000 employees.

tumblr has less than 30, but even before the layoffs that have people talking about this, it had less than 100. of course they're not going to be as polished as twitter at its peak. but the quality of twitter at its peak is just not possible in 2025 without existing investors and an employee base in the hundreds, if not thousands. cohost had 5 employees at its peak.

serving a global social scene is neither feasible without the investor money nor profitable for those investors. we are learning this every single day. the internet is built around monetizing every single point of interaction in setting up a website. squarespace disrupted the industry by providing one point of interaction, but squarespace is not a gathering place. sites that are less polished, sites with smaller userbases, and yes, sites that just fucking disappear overnight like cohost did are something you're just going to have to get used to.

I think a lot about something my roommate once said to me when we were talking about our book concepts. I was listing off the three main characters, two trans girls and cis girl, and I said "Well one of them has to be cis obviously". And they said, "Why?". And I thought about it for a few seconds. And then I made her trans and I carry that philosophy with me everywhere.

This happens all the time when I'm writing cis guys btw. Every time I'm just like "Yes here we are I'm writing a normal average cis dude this time. Yeah his problem is he can't allow his brain to process that magic is real even if he Knows it is, and denying him that transformation is slowly killing her oh god dammit."
