The truth of the matter is that he never stood a chance.

Henry had met Alex on a rugby field four years ago when he was 19 and Alex was 18, and had immediately been besotted by the curly-haired boy with a chin dimple, wicked smile and spectacular arse. He’s since found himself in awe of the way that Alex can read the play, his speed and his powerful leap in a lineout, of the respect that he commands from his team on the field and the way he seems to be friends with everyone off it.

Over the years, Henry has also learned that Alex is very talented with his mouth, has a freckle on his hip and that his arse feels as good as it looks.

When Alex strode up to him after their first game, shook Henry’s hand then dropped his shorts to exchange them, Henry froze, at a loss for words when faced with Alex’s bare thighs and his American flag briefs.

“You gonna leave me hanging, Fox?” Alex had teased, gesturing at Henry’s shorts.

“Bit on the nose, aren’t they?” Henry returned as he pushed his shorts down.

“Nothing but the best All-American jocks for my Mexican-American ass,” Alex drawled. Then, he winked and Henry was gone.

Honestly, Alex is fucking grateful Henry’s not in color that’s actually more flattering on him. He’s pretty sure Henry would be a danger to himself and others—they work around pretty heavy equipment. What if someone dropped something? Catching sight of Henry Fox in his race trim is no reason to lose a toe.  “Oh,” Henry says when he catches sight of Alex walking toward him. “Oh?” Alex questions. He glances down quickly, making sure everything’s in place. He feels great, honestly, in Ferrari red. “Did I fuck something up?”

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday

I've already shared a few snippets from my trans!Alex Fandom Trumps Hate fic, which I am SO fucking excited about—but I've also taken my usual batshit chaotic approach of 'just write stuff as inspiration hits and fit it all together later', and I realised a not-insignificant period of time into doing this that I'd written some stuff that was inherently contradictory. But I also LOVED it all and didn't wanna give anything up... so long story short, now I have TWO trans!Alex WIPs 🤣 One is the longer, more Big Feelings fic for FTH... and the other is this, which will be a bit shorter. And pornier. I mean, they'll both have porn and feelings, because I am who I am, but... you know. Let's fucking go. (I might try to smash this one out for @rwrbgenderfunkyfest if I can!)

“Jesus fuck, sweetheart.” Alex buries one hand in his own curls as he comes down, the other resting on the top of Henry’s head, who has only moved far enough away to press soft kisses to Alex’s thigh. Henry’s face is a fucking mess, and he looks… well, he would say Henry looks unduly proud of himself, except for the fact that his knees currently have the approximate consistency and weight-bearing capabilities of a particularly booze-heavy jello shot, so really, Henry’s earned the smugness that’s radiating out of every pore. “That was—” “Yes, it was rather.” Henry smirks, his eyes locked on Alex’s as he flattens it, dragging it up towards his hip before planting a hard, toothy kiss there. His hand slides up Alex’s other leg until his thumb is resting at the edge of the scar above Alex’s pubic bone, and Alex reads the question in his eyes half a second before he voices it. “May I?” Alex blinks. In his experience, people tend to ignore his scars completely during sex, even if they have practical questions about the equipment. But Henry’s already sucked him off until he saw God—if he gets any better at it, Alex might die. “If you want.” Henry’s smile softens into something sweet and hopeful and breathtaking, and then he leans forward to press an almost unbearably gentle kiss to the raised skin there. “Christ, you’re beautiful.” It’s so quiet, Alex isn’t sure he was meant to hear it at all.

Sevenish Sentence Sunday

I decided not to miss another week!!! Thanks to everyone who's been tagging me, since tumblr has been weird (I don't know if it still is?) I'm going to actually thank y'all below the cut :)

It’s still not enough to make him regret a single word he’d said. “—also ‘Ferrari Foes’ is trending on Twitter. And, there’s a series of rumors circulating that Ferrari’s going to be forced to choose between the two of you,” June finishes with a huff. “Okay, but that’s just a rumor, right?” “Yes, but you’re missing the point, Alex.” “The point that I hate Fox and am looking forward to beating him in the Driver’s Championship?” Alex clarifies. It’s probably a good thing that June can’t see the smirk on his face. “I don’t think anyone missed that.”

How many works do you have on ao3?

What's your total ao3 word count?

299,988 (though this includes 110,000 from the co-written PJO AU and 2,000 words from Manu's fic that I podficced to)

What fandoms do you write for?

Only RWRB for now, though never say never to others. I recently read Check, Please! and I've had some thoughts, but I have far too many WIPs for RWRB to write them rn. Also I have some ideas for The Pairing, but again, I have... so many RWRB wips...

I really try to. But. I have gotten quite behind recently. I would love to catch up but it's just a bit overwhelming at the moment.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really have any angsty endings?? but a fic @affectionatelyrs and I are working on is going to have an ambiguous ending and my joke is that someone should the version of it where things take the angsty route

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I mostly write happy endings, but I am going to say that Let Me inside (I Want to Get to Know You) is the happiest because it's kinda the tropiest

Do you get hate on fics?

Not hate, but I've gotten one or two weird comments, or comments asking about updates.

Do you write smut?

I do! (this is one of the things that's changed since the fall)

Craziest crossover:

The closest I've gotten to a crossover is the PJO AU, but that's not even an actual crossover.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes!! Super Six and the Siren's Call with @inexplicablymine and @read-and-write- was the first, and then I wrote Let Me inside (I Want to Get to Know You) with @affectionatelyrs. I also did the podficcing of the voice notes for love has a voice (and it's yours) by Manu. I've also got a couple more projects coming up with Jamie also.

All time favorite ship?

Well that I've written for, FirstPrince :)

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Unfortunately I don't know if I'll ever finish Baby's First Pride because I've grown a ton as a writer since then and I would want to redo the old chapters and that just isn't all the compelling to me anymore...

What are your writing strengths?

I fucking hate this question. But I am going with dialogue and humor (and humorous dialogue) which has been co-signed by others so I feel less weird about saying this.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I would like to be able to keep smut more concise at times, because it always turns into a Big Scene but it doesn't always need to be a Big Scene. And I've been trying to work on a particular style of writing which is a bit more uhhh snappy? I don't know how to describe it. But that's still a huge work in progress, because I always get more rambly than I want.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I definitely try to include it for the characters in RWRB who speak other languages, and when I do I lean on my friends who speak those languages as a native speaker.

First fandom you wrote in?

Officially: RWRB. For myself: HP.

Favorite fic you've written?

Honestly it's always whatever I'm working on at the moment, which is a couple of WIPs: Fire Island WIP, Parasocial Relationship AU with @affectionatelyrs, and my Big Bang fic come to mind.

Henry gazes down at the dusty maps, the faded lines he and his father had drawn connecting the points, the scrawled notes out to the side, more passion imbued into these old papers than any of his work at the station. It feels as if he’s showing Alex a piece of his own heart on the page, his throat tight and face warm. 

“I know they aren’t perfect, but—” 

“This one,” Alex points to a spot before he can finish, gazing at the map longingly. “This is my home.” 

The breath catches in his throat. 

“Orion,” Henry breathes.

Several Sentence Sunday

Hiiiiii I am very late today (it is still Sunday here) but I promised some people I would share a snippet from my Fire Island WIP. You can also see a moodboard for this here. Because of that I am blatantly ignoring all rules about number of sentences.

Be warned, smut ahead:

That’s when he sees him. He’s seated at the edge of the pool, legs dangling in the warm water of the shallow end. There’s another man standing in the pool, with his face pressed to the spot where long limbs meet tiny waist. Honestly though, that’s not what gets Alex’s attention—he’s far from the only person in Alex’s line of sight having his cock sucked. But he’s certainly the prettiest. His whole body looks like it’s been chiseled from stone, like he’s a stolen Michelangelo that’s been brought to life solely for the purpose of luxuriating in the modern day equivalent of an exorbitant Renaissance portrait scene. Eyelids shutter over bright blue eyes as the man in the pool slips his mouth lower. Blond waves soak in the sun’s rays as he throws his head back, unknowingly teasing Alex with the sharp lines of his jaw and the long curve of his neck. Alex is vaguely aware that his swimsuit’s doing nothing to hide how hard he is right now. He’s not sure he can find it in himself to care. The man in the pool moves one of his muscular legs over his shoulder, taking the other man even deeper. A shudder runs through Alex’s body as he imagines what those strong thighs might feel like on either side of his own head. The man’s hand winds its way around the back of the giver’s head, lithe fingers tangling in the damp strands. Alex bites his lip. He wonders if the man might give them a tug if it was Alex’s curls under his fingertips.  Maybe if he asked nicely.

Inspiration Weekend

Thanks @kiwiana-writes for the tag!! My brain has frankly been taken over by my Fire Island WIP, despite the fact that I should be working on my big bang fic and that I have at least two months before I want to begin posting.

Pinterest introduced me to the Fire Island polaroids taken by Tom Bianchi, and it's literally so perfect for this I feel like screaming. He seems like a badass guy, learn more about an elder gay here.

okay we need to have an intervention.

i've noticed that people don't leave the same kind of unhinged compliments under fanfics that visual artists usually receive (eg, "i want to eat your art"), so i've come up with a list that you need to start employing when your friends send you their WIPs and when your favorites update on ao3 but you're having a hard time commenting something that sounds intelligent and you still want to support them

  • "you're like if [famos author] (eg, Victor Hugo if the fic is angst) was into [fandom]"
  • "well THIS has been added to my pre-sleep daydream schedule"
  • "this fic invaded my mind and consumed my brain like a spore"
  • "I'M LOSING SLEEP OVER THIS ONE, FOLKS"
  • "yOu'Ve AlReAdY lEfT kUdOs HeRe"
  • "this fic has me scratching at my yellow wallpaper, it's so good"
  • "this fic has me checking under my floorboards for the heart of a kind man i murdered, it's so good"
  • "i'm making my parents read this"
  • "i know only one chapter is out so far, but i'm going to print this out, staple it together, and put it on my bookshelf next to the canon material"
  • "this fic gave me another mental illness"
