Casey's Crafty Corner

@caseyscraftycorner

crochet, knitting, pixel art, board games, TTRPGs, and anything else that strikes my fancy. he/they, disabled & neurodivergent. also i'm the guy behind @katmaibearfan

a post of mine got kinda big, and now I've got a bunch of new followers, so i guess i'm making a new pinned post.

a quick rundown on me & my blog:

im an artist in many senses of the word; i crochet, i knit, i sew a little, i do pixel art, and i used to be a writer of both fiction and poetry (and maybe someday i'll return).

i love ttrpgs; i don't play dnd 5e bc i don't like it, and my favorite d20 system is pathfinder second edition. my first systems were pathfinder first edition and dnd 3.5. i also love indie ttrpgs, especially horror systems like Mothership or Dread.

i love board games; i own roughly 40 multiplayer games and like 10 or so solo games. current favorites include The Search For Lost Species, Furnace, and Scout.

I'm disabled and mentally ill; i have bipolar 1 with psychosis and C-PTSD, which are a big part of my artistic expression, and its not uncommon for me to stop posting for a week or two while i'm having a hypo/manic episode. i also sometimes blog about my ongoing physical health issues, so expect medical content.

i use he/they pronouns & block transphobes on sight.

& finally, i run @katmaibearfan, where i liveblog the katmai brown bear cams for the duration of the season, roughly june to mid november. in the off season i have mostly been reblogging bear and salmon art, but i hope to start posting more written content there once my health at least kind of stabilizes.

welcome!

yes there is a headline that prompted this, but mostly i want to hear your best examples and maybe stir up some intra-regional strife for fun

I think its probably us

yeah, okay, was going to hold off on dropping the headline that immediately inspired this poll, but i gotta go for the one-two punch

and while we're at it, a classic:

my personal favorite

New Hampshire's state motto is "Live Free or Die". This poll had a correct answer good job everybody

@elodieunderglass Please ask Dr. Glass to weigh in!

I asked him what he’d answer in the poll and he said “New Hampshire”, which I thought was quite rude

It’s funny when I say it but when HE -

One of my favorite things about Put Baby In Pelican Mouth is that not only does the pelican have the intelligence necessary to speak human language but also knows how to lie, suggesting it has a theory of mind, yet not enough to understand that no one is going to put baby in pelican mouth.

To be entirely fair to the pelican, I have seen humans do much, much dumber things with their infants. The park rangers in Louisiana ha e to regularly tell people to not put their babies on the ground next to the gators for a pic.

In fact, it could be argued that the peculiar grammar used by the pelican in the Put Baby In Pelican Mouth post is deliberate, like how phishers use major grammar errors in their messages so that people too smart for the scam (or smart enough to report them) ignore the emails and the scammer can focus on the most likely marks.

Regardless, the pelican is right: there is absolutely someone dumb enough to put a baby in its mouth because it asked politely. Probably dozens on that beach alone.

Put baby in pelican mouth for Instagram photo. Facebook photo of baby in pelican mouth for many likes and also happy asleep baby. So cute baby in pelican mouth for video on TikTok. Youtube short of baby so cute in soft pelican mouth for so many views to Youtube channel. Baby in pelican mouth challenge.

3 day heart monitor acquired -- and it even comes with an app to help me log my symptoms!!

and uhhhh wowie i knew i had problems with positional lightheadedness/racing heart beat/shortness of breath, but it turns out that having to press a button every time it happens has made me realize that it happens WAY more often than i thought. its never that severe -- about 95% of the time i can function through it without much trouble, i haven't fainted in years and i very rarely even lose vision these days -- so i guess i just kindof...forget about it when it happens because its not that impactful? like, its "just" uncomfortable for like 1-3 minutes.

anyways. ive had this thing on for like an hour and a half and i have already logged 3 events, lmao

also, next week i have to go get a kidney artery ultrasound, which means no food or water for 8hrs beforehand. and on the one hand, the test is at 8am, so the no food/water thing should be pretty easy to manage. but on the other hand, it takes me just over an hour to get to the hospital i have to go to, so i do have to wake up super early :/

shout out to that one green line conductor who does the funny announcements, genuinely it makes my day every time.

a few notable quotes:

"transfer here for the silver line, which is really ... just a bus"

"now folks, this is where this train becomes an interactive experience!" when switching from underground stops where they stop at each one to the above ground stops where u have to request them

"✨🎵thank you for riding the T🎵✨"

planning a trip to europe from a city with practically no transport is crazy. i open up a map of the munich metro system and staring back at me is a biblically accurate angel if it were a map of a metro system

this is what i'm dealing with

I turned 42 yesterday. Highly recommend, no regrets.

This week my kid is doing tech for the school musical, and I've got a paper to finish, so it's been busy. I'm also recovering from my weekend away. Not a lot of time for celebrating, but I am going to dinner with family tonight.

Life is good. Aging is good. I am much more confident and secure than I was in my early adulthood. I love myself. I smile when I look in the mirror. I know who I am and I am proud to be myself.

In the midst of navigating chronic illness and processing growing up, changing careers and raising kids, I've managed to build a live that I love, full of people I love. I have so much joy and contentment in my every day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 💐🥳🎈

The capercaillie is a large grouse found in Scotland’s pinewoods. It is known for its dramatic courtship displays, where males call and displaying their plumage to attract females. British Birds on 100% British Bluefaced Leicester is a limited edition collection.

Due to demand, I will bring back the four most popular ones for Spring into Wool and Wonderwool Wales. You can vote for the ones you’d like to buy at the shows using the Microsoft form below. They will be on 75% BFL and 25% nylon to maintain the uniqueness of the original sixteen batches.

I am on the road just now so any orders placed this week will be shipped next week. Thank you for your understanding.

Life is really fucking hard si sometimes you just gotta make a leather clutch bag inspired by Elven Lembas bread from Lord of the Rings because if you're gonna suffer you may as well suffer with a little bag to put your trinkets in the little compartment that looks like a pie
