when you got with mark, you didn’t expect it to be so much like what you always dreamed of. i mean, being a hopeless romantic, you were very convinced and honestly becoming content with the fact that you would never get the partner of your dreams, just because of how high your standards were, at least in comparison to this world’s standards.
though, mark was everything you could’ve dreamed of and more. for example, currently, you were in exam period. constantly studying 24/7 obviously got to your brain, because, unbeknownst to you, you forgot to eat today. well, that wasn’t going to fly with mark.
you heard your door open, but you didn’t turn your head. the only thing that pried your eyes away from the textbook on your desk was the plop of a bag of food from your favorite restaurant, along with the warm feeling of familiar arms wrapping around you from behind.
“you’ve been studying all day, pretty.” mark said simply, his voice gentle. “have you even had breakfast?” he asked, more of the concern that he was trying to bottle down spilling into his tone.
you set down your pen, closing your text book and letting out a sigh. as you reached for the bag of food, which was neatly tied up, your stomach started to rumble. jeez, you really hadn’t realized how hungry you were. you placed it on your lap, untying the knot as you replied. “i had, like… string cheese, i think,” you mumbled as you opened the bag.
“mmm, that’s not breakfast, darling. that’s a weak snack, if anything.” he hummed in disapproval, letting go of you to walk over to your desk, gathering up your books and notes and clearing the table, which, you couldn’t lie, probably helped you clean your head more, too.
“i know,” you whined, placing the food on the desk. “it’s just… with so much studying, it’s hard to remember to ‘self care’ and all that.” you opened the plastic wrapped utensils and took a bite of your food, immediately sighing in content and letting your eyes flutter closed. there, truthfully, was nothing better than a warm meal after hours of not eating anything.
“thank you so much,” you said after swallowing, looking over at mark who was now in the kitchen, filling up your water bottle. he nodded and walked over, placing the bottle on your desk. “if you don’t have time to take care of yourself,” he started, leaning down and pressing a kiss to your cheek, “then i will.”
