ouhhh silly troubled ace man.........
I had a dream last night that I was reading Broomtail and that new chapters were out. Here's what I remember from it :
Orlam was at the door of Genzou's ranch, as smug as ever. I don't remember the exact interaction, but it led to Iggy following him outside. The dream cut to the scene i remember the most clearly, where Orlam and Iggy find themselves in a marmelade powered hot air balloon (I have no idea why but apperently Orlam had gotten it because of something to do with his father?). I do remember their conversation drifting to Genzou, and Orlam asking Iggy what he likes about Genzou. Iggy started enamourously listing a massive list of sweet adjectives that had to do with Genzou, with the most ADORABLE smile on his face kinda like this emoji :3 but more in love. He then asked Orlam : "And what do you like about me?" out of curiosity. Orlam, without missing a beat answered "And do you wish me to moan while answering you?" referring to Iggy’s loving expression while listing Genzou's qualities. But then his smug expression turned into a somewhat genuine smile and he answered something along the lines of : "Well, you are rather nice." Iggy then answered (or thought, because I think he was mentally narrating that chapter) "I haven’t felt this happy in quite a little while."
Now, I do not remember what happened after that, but I do remember that strangely enough, there was an animated scene, where a bald character in a saloon asked Iggy, Genzou and Orlam to enter it discreetly, protecting them from something (someone?). There was a scene toward the end where Genzou and Iggy were trying to... Buy oil? Yeah, I don’t know either. Just wanted to share that dream.
Nice analysis! It's cool seeing someone go in-depth on OW and all its components. Also, bees are iconic (<- in reference to the profile picture)
Thank you so much! Our Wonderland and other masterpieces by Carrot mean a lot to me, so I'm always tempted to try and dissect the games and the comic!! That's how you know I'm enjoying a piece of media a LOT. By the way, I love your OW and Broomtail art, it's very cute! (Genzy<3🔥🔥🔥)
As for bees, I couldn't agree more. They're one of my favorite animals on earth, along with cats. I know a lot of fun facts about bees that I don't necessarily talk about by fear of boring people. But I'm dreaming of taking care of a hive someday.
Thank you for your ask, I'm open if anyone wants to talk about OW or other masterpieces from Carrot's pen. Those mean so MUCH to me.
W.I.P
A small project(video series???) I'm planning to do! Will it drain my phone's life? Yes. Will it hurt my fingers? Yes.
But will it make you laugh? Honestly, I don't know but I DO KNOW IT'LL MAKE YOU CRINGE!
UPDATE: I switched to Kinemaster due to problems on Capcut.
Nobody said it, so I will : Happy birthday Gidget!! Today is (at least in my timezone it still is) March 3rd, which means it is Gidget's birthday today. They mean a lot to me as a character because well, first, they are part of the main cast of my favorite game (you'll never guess which one) and that implies that they are extremely well written. I loved seeing their entire character arc play out, from their backstory, the reveal of how their bigoted mother has greatly influenced their upbringing as a person and how their crush on Iggy and suppressed gender dysphoria has led them down a dark path, twisted by the magic of the Tree's wonderland. It is also quite rare to see non binary representation, so seeing Gidget's character immediately have their pronouns switched to they/them was honestly very thrilling to see. One of my favorite things about their character is how, even after the timeline resets at the end of the game, the narration still uses they/them to refer to Gidget. As in, that is one of the memories that the crew remembers. Who Gidget is. Perhaps it is also what encourages Gidget to come out post wonderland instead of suppressing their identity, like in the previous timeline.
Oh, and character design wise, they are simply incredible. Their blonde little hair clumps or whatever they are, hanging near their ears? LOVELY. It gives the character so much style! Speaking of style, their aesthetic is simply flawless. Even evil spider Gidget was absolutely slaying. And their design got EVEN cooler after their haircut. UGHHH.
I'll admit, it took me a bit of time to warm up to this character. Partially because, the way they treat Iggy in wonderland is less than ideal, in fact, it is quite horrific. As soon as I finished the game for the first time, my favorite character was Genzou, and my least favorite from the main cast was Gidget. As a matter of fact, Genzou left a sweet taste on my tongue, where Gidget left a bitter one. But with time and rumination, one learns to appreciate all tastes. Even if Gidget's actions were horrific and scarring, it only takes a bit of thinking to realize that it was merely wonderland twisting their wounds to make them into this incredibly violent person. After all, Iggy, Orlam and Bucks also get incredibly influenced and seemingly turn into completely different people as well, all because they were relentlessly dehumanized. The same thing happened with Gidget. Never in a thousand universes would they have done what they did if they were themself. It is pretty clear that during arc 5, the moment they learn to accept themself, they snap out of the wonderland manipulations on their brain. So I learnt to love Gidget's character for who they are, who they really are. OFW and OC can especially help into seeing who Gidget really is. And with Broomtail mostly centering around Genzou's point of view, one can only imagine if there is a universe where Gidget's point of view on things is the most exploited. I think that would be pretty cool.
ANYWAY, instead of rambling, all I meant to say is HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIDGET!!
Small art to the...faceless smiley guy in the new Broomtail episode.
Now. I have some theories(Thoughts?) about the new episode and its brief flashbacks to Genzou's past.
1) The involvement of the Faceless Smiley Guy.
In this panel, there's a text that says; "I must perform a thorough examination". I'm assuming that it was the smiley guy that told Genzou that because afterwards, Genzou (I assumed) replied; "what did you do?"
The mysterious man seems to either be a 'doctor' or some 'scientist' or, what I like to call, false healers(people who lies about one's health for money and sells false medicine.)
In the background though, it seems like that Genzou had confronted the man either outside another place or his house(or maybe his mother's?).
2) The involvement of the Mystery Man of Genzou's Mother's death(?)
In this Panel. It seems that the 'examination' the Smiling man did was a downer. Maybe he didn't bother helping Genzou's mother, maybe the smiling guy did something to Genzou's mother to increase whatever illness she was going through, or something far worse that I don't want to write it on here.
But obviously, whatever the Smiling Guy done. Genzou was forced/felt the need to put his own mother out of her suffering. I'm guessing that Genzou mercy-killed his own Mother. In the panel below the imagery of the brief image of his mother, Genzou seemed hesitant. Was it Genzou's mother begging her own son to kill her? Maybe.
3). Is the Smiley Guy a Top Hat person.
I mean. Come on. Doesn't that guy gives off Top Hat vibes? The crazy smile, the small silk hair and the shirt collar??
I have a feeling that this mystery guy has a cocky personality due to that grin. I mean, I "studied" a few characters with grins/smirk/smiles on their face (constantly) and they end up to be that one cocky, sly, bastardly character.
But hey.
That's just a theory.
A Game Theory‼️
Ahem...uhm. My thumb slipped.
My predictions may be wrong but eh. :]
Interesting dive on this unsettling grinning character... I honestly can't wait to see their design revealed, I feel like there's a lot going on with that character. Btw, love your artstyle.
IT IS FINISHED!! 🐶
The Nasty Dog meme now exists in Our Wonderland form 🤣 First animation meme and first time using After Effects... the peak of my artistic career??? /hj At any rate, I'm looking forward to making more animations and animatics in the future, too 🤭
have also uploaded to youtube for better safekeeping if you want to watch or save it there
The latest Broomtail chapter
Yes. Hi. I really really REALLY need to talk about the latest Broomtail chapter. As you may know, we get to see a glimpse of Genzou's past through flashbacks he experiences. Perhaps the physical pian of his illness brings out the mental pain of his heavy backstory, so let's try to understand what's been going on.
One of the first things we see is this. A text that says "I must perform a thorough examination" accompanied with the image of someone smiling. Now, a few things may draw our attention, here. If the sentence is indeed connected to the character shown here, then there is a possibility that said character belongs to the medical field. They appear to be smiling in a really disturbing manner. The person's smile is too wide, the proportions feel odd and give off this creepy effect regarding their teeth. In fact, this reminds me of how Gidget, Orlam and Bucks's face expressions were unnaturally distorted in Wonderland (OW). This character, and potential doctor is likely meant to appear creepy, uncanny, and overall uncomfortable to look at in this specific picture. Perhaps they have bad intentions, or at least, that would be quite easy to assume. This hints at Genzou having some medical trauma and will likely make dealing with his illness even harder. (poor guy, seriously).
The second image shows a terrified Genzou. But look at him. Isn't he missing something? The scar on his eyes. This is a shot of him before he lost his eyesight!! The next sentence shown is a hesitant, half asked question : "Wh-what did you...?" implies the person asking that question is scared to even be asking it. Is scared of the answer. If this is related to the previous (potential doctor) character, then they seem to have done something that horrified Genzou.
Here is the next picture. A character, that to me looks shockingly similar to Genzou's mother is laying down, and doesn't seem to be in a good condition at all. If it is indeed Genzou's mother, then her hair is falling on her face and she appears to have splashes of something that looks like blood on her face. Her hair falling on her face would likely indicate that she is not in a state that's good enough for her to remove said hair. She is likely in a lot of pain, perhaps in the worst of cases, she is dead, or dying. If this is related to the likely doctor character from earlier, then perhaps she was a victim of medical malpractice, or she was straight up murdered. Who can tell, really? What's intriguing, however, is the text above that pleads "K-kill me..." Is Genzou's mother begging for her life to end? Or, could this be someone else.....?
The next image is of someone holding a gun, likely Genzou regarding the shape of the hand. He appears to be trembling, which is perfectly fitting to his current mood. Terrified and in pain. Something happened, where Genzou was trembling, holding a gun. Was he hesitating to shoot something or someone? Had he just shot something or someone and was regretting it? Underneath, the text reads "P-please..." which is yet again, another stuttering plea. We can likely say that this is the continuity of the previous one, and that the person asking to be killed is the same as this one.
And, here's the next image. A familiar, familiar face. Gidget, slaying their outfit, leaning on a doorframe. The text near them was likely said by them, regarding the change in tone. They are comparing themself to someone who they are referring to as "cowboy". Already, we can tell Gidget is a pretty important, yet painful part of Genzou's past.
Now this. This is where it gets EVEN MORE interesting. We get to see two intertwined hands, looking a lot like Gidget's and Genzou's. The implications of this could be that Gidget and Genzou were romantically involved with eachother at one point in this universe. That is a VERY interesting thing to explore, as it is not a dynamic that can be seen in any game of that universe. Sure, in Our Wonderland, Genzou seems a bit taken aback by Gidget's good looking appearance from the moment they start presenting themself as more masculine than before, but due to Gidget "forcing themself to be cis" (for lack of a better expression) for most of the game, this dynamic has not been explored before! And I must tell you I was NOT expecting that!! The text reads "You like the soft ones, don't ya?" which could be referring to a lot of things. But I think in this case, that it could specifically be referring to romantic partners, in which case, that is quite the flirty sentence on Gidget's account. Pair that with the memory of their intertwined hands and draw the conclusion you will....
The next image only further confirms this theory. Gidget is leaning into Genzou's ear, whispering "I can be soft..." which is, in my opinion, undeniably flirty. It also looks like their hand is tugging at his collar, or at the very least, pretty close from it. Gidget is also smirking in the picture, which only affirms this. However, the bottom text reads "or I can be..." and simply ends there. What else can Gidget be? And do we really want to know?
The next images are a sudden switch, a complete change in scenery. Genzou is still thinking of Gidget, but this is a completely different memory. Gidget isn't flirty anymore, they actually look rather angry. They are crouching near a lying Genzou and despite their face being hidden by the shadow of their hat, they are clearly disdainous. The text near them confirms the way Gidget feels. They are refusing to kill Genzou (which implies that the person pleading to be killed earlier on, was in fact Genzou from this specific memory, asking Gidget to end his life) and claim that they have gone through so much together (potentially confirms the theory of them being exes in this universe). Gidget is clearly upset by something Genzou has done and the bottom text confirms that they think Genzou deserves to feel guilty about it, which he definitely seems to. The bottom image also reveals that this is the memory of Genzou losing his eyesight. There is blood on his eyes, in the exact place where his scar currently is. Genzou is scared, terrified and he is crying. He regrets something he has done, he feels guilty and he has just turned blind. He is in so much pain that he is asking Gidget to end his life. And Gidget? They are so angry at him for what he has done that they refuse to put an end to his misery, and claim they want his guilt to make him suffer.
Here, Gidget mentions "the weight of his sins" and him being dragged "straight down to hell". It is unclear whether they are referring to a literal hell, as this is a very religious time period, (and well, Genzou has a lot to regret and furthermore, he is gay...) or whether they are referring to a metaphorical hell, which is what he is DEFINITELY going through.
The last image reveals Genzou, still lying on the floor. The blood is still on his face, he is staring into the sky, which he likely cannot see anymore. Here it can be seen that there is a gun near his hand. And his gun holder on his belt is empty. Genzou is right handed, and the gun is near his right hand. Regarding the earlier image of him trembling while holding a gun, this raises questions. Did he shoot himself in the eyes? If so, was that his actual intent? Because he doesn't seem to enjoy being blind. Or are there still key elements we're missing... On this last image, we can also clearly see that Gidget is gone, and Genzou is lying here ALL ALONE. The text reads "Don't leave me..." implying a fear of abandonment, especially after he has just lost one of his senses. But Gidget is gone. So is his eyesight. And he feels guilty about something. And his gun, his gun means something important as well. I have much to bet that THIS is the most embarrassing moment in his godforsaken life. He's all alone. He's vulnerable and exposed. He can't see anymore. He has no one anymore. And he is so guilt ridden he doesn't feel worthy of love anymore. The most embarrassing moment in Genzou's godforsaken life.
What I like the most about this chapter is that he starts focusing on that fear of being left alone, right as the image transitions to his present sick self. And Iggy being back. Ready to help and support him. You likely have medical, religious and abandonment trauma, Genzou. But Iggy will never leave you.
Anyway, does anyone think I missed anything? Those are just silly theories, I'm sure Carrot is cooking some delightful story as we speak and I can't wait to see more of it!!
Two small mistakes in Our <<Fantastic>> Wonderland?
Recently, I replayed Our Fantastic Wonderland. As usual, the game was endearing and the atmosphere just as lovely as I remember. However, I came across two small details which appeared to be potential mistakes.
This first one occurs after Bucks takes down the door to the sacred altar. Hunar gets frustrated that the five of them didn't think of a clever intricate solution they could all play a part in. Genzou responds to him : "Hunar, this is us we're talking about." However, the speech bubble is still pointed at Hunar, despite it being Genzou talking.
This second mistake occurs in the Ghent route only. After the group walks into the sacred altar, the lights fade and Bucks is the first one to disappear. Ghent remarks this and exclaims "She's gone!". However, the nametag above the line is still marked as "BUCKS". Ironic, considering she's the subject of the sentence and is the one that has seemingly disappeared!
That's all, just wanted to point that out and see if anyone else noticed those things. I think it was pretty funny.
