ive talked about this before but you will never be to convince me that between leonardo "ghosts are a figment of your imagination" hamato and donatello "and clearly, we all know that it's pizzasaurus, the evil spawn of the loch ness monster and bigfoot" hamato, that LEO is somehow the one that believes in them having innate twin sense. donnie would be running scientific tests over gut feelings to prove that shit with a HUNDRED percent conviction and leo would be so fed up with it
ARGH I keep FORGETTING this aspect of Donnie's character! Cuz he's like... The Science Guy, the last type of person you'd expect to believe in such silly conspiracy theories. Except that contradiction is what makes it genuinely absolutely hilarious and I love it so much and also you are RIGHT Donnie would be the one obsessed with twin telepathy ๐ญ comedy gold

OKAY so while making the Save yourself, I'll hold them back lyric comic, it put me in a big Danger Days mood in general (the album which the song is from) and I got the idea to draw the rise turtles as the Killjoys! (For anyone who doesn't know, very simply put they're characters the MCR band members play in the musical videos for the Danger Days album) (Dunno how many of you guys are interested in the Danger Days lore but just so you know I'm absolutely cooking with this!!)

BEHOLD MY MAGNUM OPUS! Bro this took more than 2 months, in part because I was really busy IRL during one of those months, but even then this was a pretty large project for me compared to what I've done before. BUT NOW I'M FINALLY DONE! ๐ญ Save yourself, I'll hold them back is just such a Leo-coded song, especially if you include the whole bad timeline, I just had to make something rottmnt-related with it. I actually envisioned this at first as an animation, but I lack both the skill and motivation to animate so it became a lyric comic instead lol.

It's taking like a few centuries or so to finish BUT I'm getting pretty close right now I promise!! I just finished colouring 6 pages out of 9 so that's something. Also while my life has been quite busy for the last month or so, it's gonna get less busy now so that's also nice.

The Final Empire Thumbnails 1 -18
Since I had to reread Era 1 anyway I decided to combine getting into theย vibes of the world with some art practice and do a speed run of illustrating moments from it while I make my way through the book. The thumbnails are all painted in greyscale with using gradient maps to add color and atmosphere.
