Florence Duomo Cupola My personal favourite in Italy so far has to be Brunelleschi's Duomo. From it's innovative design to its beautiful green and red marble facade, the Duomo looks over the tranquil city of Florence. Still standing as the largest brick dome in the world, the Duomo gets its strength from two chains which act as bands arround two key structural areas of the Dome, while two layers of herringbone brickwork aim to disperse loads evenly and consistently around the dome.
