I recently participated in a small swap with some sewing friends. Stalking my recipients Pinterest board revealed a whole new world of miniature quilt shop supplies. She has a dollhouse, so I decided to make her some bundles. I looked around at various blogs for tutorials. This week I worked on more items for the shop ... sewing machines and embroidery floss. I found photos of sewing machines on Google images and carved four from contractor's foam board. It's a type of styrofoam with a fairly dense quality. I used an X-acto knife to carve them and an emery board (split lengthwise) to sand them relatively smooth. They got a couple coats of gesso with very gentle sanding between the coats. Bits of dowels held with superglue formed knobs and wheels.They were…

Hi ya! Hope you had a good weekend. I sure did! Last week, I pulled out this big ol' bucket of scrap wool and just let it inspire me for a bit. We all have a scrap bucket don't we? The perfect shaped box filled with bolts of adorable cottage style fabric. I love this little box. In my sewing room I always place my prettiest fabric front and center so it is the first thing you see when you walk in my sewing room. So I thought this would be a cute idea for my little sewing room.
