Cami Logan | Custom Decorated Sugar Cookies on Instagram: "The most asked for how to video, how to mix a perfect outline consistency for decorating with two consistencies of royal icing! A couple tips: You want to color your icing first because sometimes when adding food coloring it can change the consistency of your icing. I test for the little curl by using my spatula to slowly lift up from my icing and then let it curl naturally. Do it a couple times because sometimes you might now get a curl once but you will if you do it a couple more times. A comparison would be to think of toothpaste consistency. A little bit goes a long way with your outline so when I bag my icing I usually just do one spoonful of outline and that is plenty! • • • • • #howtovideo #cookiedecorating #cookieti Outline Consistency Royal Icing, How To Color Royal Icing, Royal Frosting, Decorated Sugar Cookies, Cookie Frosting, Fancy Cookies, How To Mix, Sugar Cookies Decorated, Royal Icing

Lindsey on Instagram: "Making royal icing is actually pretty easy! It may seem intimidating at first, but I promise you can make it, too! All you need is meringue powder (find at a baking/craft store or online), powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water. Then, basically mix everything together for a few minutes until it's nice and fluffy. You can use various consistencies of royal icing for different things. Stiff consistency is good for piping large details. Piping consistency is great for small lines, details, and writing. Flood consistency is great for covering large areas, like the surface of the cookie. Hopefully now you feel confident making royal icing for decorating beautiful cookies!
