Kilpisjarvi

Kilpisjarvi is small village far north in Finland arm, by E8 from Tornio (end of Baltic sea) to Norway. Kilpisjarvi is by three borders meeting Sweden-Finland-Norway. There is beautiful lake and mountains (Saana mountain 1029 m). It is important hiking center with beautiful nature around. It is quite cold place to, elevatet about 450 m above sea. Ice on lake melt usually after 15th june. It can be bellow -40 there during winter and it can snowing in July.

If you go hiking to Kilpisjarvi, take warm clothes and food reserves with you. Unfortunately, there is only K-market in the center of village. K market has garbage compressor. PeterOB tried fuel station and camping places around, but no accessible dumpsters were found in Kilpisjarvi. Closest good dumpster is in Skibotn, Norway, 50 km far. Some dumpsters can be in in Karesuvanto, PeterOB just pas through, Muonio is only with compressors. Dumpsters were checked in May 2018
