Yummy au where Illario is the one who gets sent to the ossuary and gets put with a demon of insecurity (used to be a spirit of confidence)

Yeah yeah I know the whole envy demon stuff but let’s be really any envy he has stems from constantly having to compete against Lucanis for everything which feels more like a insecurity than an envy thing

Thinking about this again

Lucanis fighting tooth and nail for a whole year trying to find his brother, his hair grows out and he still gets the beard cause he’s a little preoccupied lol. Lucanis is still the one who Caterina gives to Rook in exchange for the ossuary rescue. Illario does a pretty good job of hiding the fact that he has a demon attached to him, that is until he’s reunited with Caterina.

Obviously she’s happy to see him but what gets him is the amount of praise that Lucanis gets compared to the concern disguising lecture he received, the demon in him sorta…snaps. Obviously everyone Freaks The Fuck Out™ cause he’s “an abomination” and “needs to be put down” or whatever but Lucanis isn’t having any of that and is pulling an “I’ll kill everyone in this room and then myself if anyone hurts him” because of course he is.

So it gets agreed that Lucanis will watch over Illario. While a part of Illario is relieved obviously but he feels like he just traded a gilded cage for a prison for another prison. He loves his cousin of course but it feels like every doubt or insecurity or fear that has been whispered in his ear over the last year (cough whole life cough) has been proven to be true in an instant.

the plotline for the Lucanis plotline shifts from finding the rat/controlling spite to both of them coming to terms with the shit theyve been through to learning how to deal with this new demon situation
