The town of South Park is going to war next month, and we apparently have Cartman and his mom to thank for it.
Paramount+ has announced South Park: The Streaming Wars as the franchise’s next exclusive event, set to premiere on Wednesday, June 1.
In the special, “Cartman locks horns with his mom in a battle of wills, while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park’s very existence,” according to the official logline.
This marks South Park‘s third special for Paramount+, following Post Covid and Post Covid: The Return of Covid, both of which debuted in 2021. Per Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s $900 million deal with ViacomCBS, 11 more specials will be produced exclusively for Paramount+. The fourth special (details TBD) is expected to debut later this summer.
South Park returned to Comedy Central earlier this year for its milestone 25th season, airing six new episodes between February and March. The show has already been renewed through Season 30, but a timeline for when those seasons will air has not been announced.

LOVE this show, this and Family Guy, the far left cancel culture mob can’t get axed!
Ricky Gervais quote (and im not even a fan of him)
“Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right”
There not trying to lol, cancel culture is just consequences, you republicans are so far out of reality.
South Park mocks both sides.
One of the many things that the far left and far right agree upon is their hatred of south park.
Cancel culture has to be consistent. Being cancelled over sending stupid tweets/messages years ago when being young is not fair, punishment doesnt fit the crime.
But then Ellen and Whoopi get away with TERRIBLE THINGS as they are not pale male stale.
Thats what south park does, calls out the double standards from the far left.
Should you be on medication for these delusions?
Rhetorical question, of course you should.
I’m still unsure what the point is having seasons and specials, especially if the seasons are going to be 6 episodes long… It just seems gimmicky on the part of Paramount+.
Yeah, we aren’t actually getting more South Park as far as I can see. A six-episode “season?” Really?
Paramount Plus’ parent company is Viacom, which also owns Comedy Central. I’m sure the seasons and specials are worded that way for pay plans on the cast/crew’s side.
Shorter seasons are part of the game when a show is long running. I am thankful that they still want to continue to make them.
I’d much rather a 10 episode season a year, over 6 episodes and random specials. It’s a great marketing tool for Paramount+ and is a way to drive subscriptions, but it’s not really adding any new content like Paramount+ is trying to promote it as. Since if we get like 6 episodes and 2 or 3 specials a year, that’s pretty much a 10-12 episode a year (which is what we were getting anyways).
