Who’s ready for a return trip to Point Place? [pmc_inline_gallery]
Netflix on Tuesday announced that That ’90s Show, a continuation of Fox’s That ’70s Show, will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 19. What’s more, the streamer released a teaser/trailer featuring first footage from the 10-episode revival, which you can watch below.
The That ’70s Show revival picks up 15 years after the original series finale on Fox. The year is 1995, and Eric and Donna’s daughter Leia (played by Shut Eye‘s Callie Haverda) is “visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red,” according to the official logline.

As previously reported, original series stars Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty) and Kurtwood Smith (Red) are on board as series regulars and executive producers. Guest stars Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher will reprise their respective roles as Eric Forman, Donna Pinciotti, Fez, Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso.
In addition to Haverda, franchise newcomers include Ashley Aufderheide (Emergence), Mace Coronel (Colin in Black & White), Maxwell Acee Donovan (Gabby Duran & The Unsittables), Reyn Doi (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) and Sam Morelos.

When the laugh tracks make it onto the promo, you know it’s going to be bad. Netflix abuses the laugh tracks to the point of distraction.
If I’m not mistaken, the show is filmed in front of an audience, though most shows “sweeten” it beyond annoying.
Besides the sweetening you mentioned the audience are also briefed beforehand and there are audience actors included to embellish the laugh on cue.
This looks cuter than I thought it would. Wishing it luck on Netflix! Never saw the original series but may check this one out.
I loved the original, but it’s going to be hard to recapture the magic
Looking forward to this and really hope they have taken away Kitty’s alcohol problem. It was disappointing when they added this.
I’m going to check this out for sheer nostalgia’s sake and also for Kitty and Red. Love them.
Kudos to the actress playing Eric and Donna’s daughter. Her response to Red about Footloose totally sold me on her being Eric’s kid.
Can’t wait! :)
I’m all for seeing Kitty & Red again, but not sure about the kids. Hard to recapture the magic of the original. The original cast had great chemistry & was perfectly cast! The writing was great, too!
They’ve barely aged!
Red & Kitty look like they haven’t aged at all. Can’t wait to see it!!!
I love that 70s show and can’t wait to hear Red say his famous line. Dumb ass
This looks like a Disney Channel show? I thought they could get away with more but they’ve somehow sanitized a network sitcom.
I think it’s the music and dancing that made me think Disney too BUT they also seem to make to smoking more apparent than it was in That 70s Show so..guess we’ll see.
I’ll be watching for Red and Kitty. I’m not so sure about the new cast, it’s going to be extremely hard to capture the magic and chemistry the original cast of teens had.
They just couldn’t help themselves.. they HAD to do the whole: One Asian, One African, Dumb White Guy thing… This is going to be painful. I was really excited for this show, but the trailer made me recoil.
Can’t we have a show where race isn’t the center of every conversation!?
You know Asians and black people existed back then. They just weren’t given much screen time. In 20 years demographics change. The Wisconsin of the ‘70s was different from the Wisconsin of the ‘90s.
For a person complaining about race, you sure seemed ready to make it the focus of your conversation there, buddy
I don’t think it was a part of anyone’s conversation until you brought it up. What exactly is your problem with people of different races co-existing?
Yeah a lot for 70s Show to unpack there!
Oof
I love That 70’s Show and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched every episode on the “LAFF” channel but I never get tired of watching them. I really do hope that a “REBOOT” of the show does happen!!! PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN!!! PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
Super excited!!!! Was a huge fan of That 70s Show & been waiting long time for this release!!!
