Veteran game show host Chuck Woolery, who is best known for his years on the syndicated dating show Love Connection, has died at the age of 83, TVLine has confirmed.
Woolery died Saturday at his home in Texas, TMZ reports. “It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother [Chuck Woolery] has just passed away,” Woolery’s friend and podcast partner Mark Young shared on social media. “Life will not be the same without him.”
Woolery began his showbiz career as a musician, scoring a Top 40 hit with “Naturally Stoned” in 1968 as half of the duo The Avant-Garde. He transitioned to acting and TV hosting, becoming the first host of Wheel of Fortune when it debuted in 1975. He was replaced by Pat Sajak in 1981, though, following a salary dispute.
Woolery then became the host of Love Connection in 1983, remaining there as emcee until 1994. The show set up singles on dates with one of three prospective partners, with the daters joining Woolery to tell him how their evening went. Woolery would introduce a commercial break with his signature catchphrase, “We’ll be back in two and two.”
The fame from Love Connection led to more game show hosting gigs for Woolery, including a daytime version of Scrabble, based on the popular board game. He also hosted a new take on The Dating Game as well as Fox’s Greed, which launched in 1999 in the wake of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s success and ran for one season.

Chuck was goodlooking, seemed very relaxed, always ready to have . some fun. I was just wondering about him the other day! Condolences to his family, I know he will be missed
Total inspiration, now I’m hosting Monthly Muslim Matchmaker Mixer starting next year, so I can get a husband, thanks Chuck and 2 and 2!
He was not a very good man who had some very right wing viewpoints and had no problem with discrimination against minorities. Good riddance.
Really you are a disgrace to the human race who cares what kind of views he had you really are a sad person
I think a lot of people care about another’s views, especially if those views result in bullying, discrimination, or emotional hurt. Just because someone died does not negate the way they treated people when they were alive. What you see on television is not the real person. The smile, the hair, and charming persona is called “acting.”
Please clarify what Chuck did to harm anyone.
Well, he advocated all of the Orange Imbecile’s disinformation campaigns during the COVID pandemic, which probably resorted in a lot of very stupid people dying from believing them.
Which makes his death from not being able to breathe all that more ironic.
How sad you are John, why even comment, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. Please, do tell of his discrimination against minorities. Sounds like you have quite the imagination.
My condolences to the family i will be praying for the family i use to watch that show all the time the love connection and millionare
What was the cause of death?
Probably being 84
Hate
I remember Chuck god bless you.
God Speed Chuck you were an amazing emcee. Bless your family RIP
He won’t be back in two and two, he will be going home to the Lord. Thank you God for lending such a wonderful talented man like Chuck Woolery.
Oh he’s not going there. He was not a good man.
Please explain…
“Going home to the Lord”??
Uh no, that’s not where he went. Believe me, I know that for a fact!
He was a Really great Man and a fantastic Host GOD BLESS his Soul.He will be Surely MISSED 🙏🙌🌹🌹🌹🌹😥💗
He has definitely been sketched in my head of one of the memorable TV shows in my childhood! Sorry for the families lost, and may he rest in peace.
I am presently a nurse but when meeting the people working with Mr. Woolery I was an animal nurse and had the pleasure of caring for his German Shepard “Peppercorn” at the local veterinary hospital. Enjoyed his show “Love Connection” very much. R.I.P. my friend.
I’m so sad to hear this news. I always loved watching him on love connection. He was always funny & such a handsome man. He’ll be greatly missed. RIP ❤️
I loved watching him on the dating game
And nothing of value was lost
Kinda conflicted on this. On one hand, Chuck Woolery was a great host on Love Connection and Scrabble (I still remember when he was hosting a teen tournament on Scrabble… and one of the contestants asked him if there was going to be a teen version of Love Connection). But on the other hand, his right wing views later in life were abhorrent at best.
