If Ghosts‘ new spirit has her way, Isaac will be in captivity for a very long time.
In TVLine’s exclusive promo for Season 4 of the CBS hit (premiering Thursday, Oct. 17, at 8:30/7:30c), we get our first look at Mary Holland (Veep) in action as Puritan ghost Patience, who dragged Isaac into the dirt in last May’s season finale.
“We shall spend eternity here,” Patience declares, and Isaac is sort of on board.
“Who wouldn’t enjoy staring at that gorgeous, porcelain skin?” he says, to which Patience replies, “‘Tis from the bloodletting that killed me.” (Speaking of her death, co-showrunner Joe Port told TVLine that Patience’s power is “related to the manner in which she died.”)
Although Patience and Isaac have a troubled history — he inadvertently left her behind in the dirt many, many years ago — the two will actually end up bonding.
“She connects with, ironically, Isaac quite a bit,” Port told TVLine during our Fall Preview Q&A. “I think she’s interested in having a group and being part of a group again, and she yearns for that kind of acceptance and is hopeful that, despite her rough edges, that she can find friends amongst the ghosts at Woodstone.”
“[Patience] brings some fun energy. We kind of lean into a little bit sort of, like, a horror trope,” co-showrunner Joe Wiseman adds. “She’s meant to be funny but also a little scary. She’s someone who’s sort of out for revenge and has taken one of our characters. So she brings a nice flavor that we haven’t seen a whole lot of at Woodstone.”
Also spotted in the above video is perhaps Pete’s new smugness, courtesy of his ghost power; a glimpse of Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) as Sam’s dad in Episode 2; and Jay digging… a grave? Or is it a passageway to find Isaac?

NO SPOILERS DANG IT!!
I hadn’t finished watching season 3 yet and now I know what happens.
You guys had stopped spoiling things in the headlines that show up in our email boxes a long time ago. (At least not for anything I’ve watched)
NO MORE SLIPS please
The season aired months ago. It isn’t spoilers at this point. They can’t run a site based on the potential that some viewers may have not caught up yet.
May isn’t that long ago and there’s absolutely no reason that they can’t write the headline with **Spoiler Alert**
Earlier this month a headline was: The Irrational casts Alec’s [Spoiler]
I could go on because there’s plenty of examples in a quick search of my Gmail.
I’ve been subscribed since the first writers strike which is around when this site started.
This kept happening periodically and then it finally stopped.
I’m calling this out now before it becomes habitual again.
It’s been 4 full months since the Season 3 finale so spoiler warnings aren’t needed past 1-2 weeks of a TV show. People can’t help you’re a slow watcher.
The problem with sites like these on posting show recaps is I see articles post immediately after the show ends, I live on the east coast and anyone living in the pacific time zone, the show hasn’t aired. They should wait until any show airs in all markets, I’ve addressed it but they do nothing about it
Hey Mike, thats an entirely different issue though. “Mega” is complaining about the headline mentioning something that aired months ago. In what world is something that aired months ago, “spoiled”?
As for your issue, I think that is also user error. Don’t visit a website that recaps TV shows until you watch the show. If it aired that day or the previous day, common sense tells you this site will have a recap and/or news on it. So just wait to visit.
You’re missing the point. My issue is they should be waiting to post the articles until the show airs everywhere. The West Coast doesn’t air until later because of the 3 hour time difference from the East Coast.
You’re missing my point. Don’t visit the site on the day it airs until you watch it and you won’t have to worry about it. You’re visiting a site that writes stories about tv shows. They are going to post stories after they air on the east coast, it’s just how it is.
In such a hurry Vlada… For your precious exclusive. Do better.
I recommend changing the headline anyways for those who haven’t been subscribed via email. At least no one else will be from the time this bad headline is fixed.
Hurry? It aired months ago. You probably complained about spoilers for the Titanic movie too.
Yay, promo! Curious to see how her death affects her power, and how that powe affects the others in turn.
Paramount+ in Australia has ordered an Australian version of Ghosts. I wonder if it will air in the US. Prime has The Office Australia next month everywhere except the US.
The US still has not broadcast/streamed all series of the original British “Ghosts” yet though it is available to purchase on DVD. All in for different versions of “Ghosts” when they are made available.
Can’t wait for a new full 22 episode season! Looking forward to meeting Patience and for Jay to be able to see the Ghosts. Love the show and cast!
Did I miss something, because I don’t see where it says that Jay will be able to see the ghosts.
Part of the humour is that Jay *can’t* see them.
There’s been news that Jay will get to see the ghosts this season, yes. How that’ll happen and how long it will last, that’s yet to be determined. But I’m presuming it’s going to be a temporary thing.
Someone goofed with this article as there was NO “promo” to watch! Better check what you’re doing over there…
You running an ad block? You may want to check what you’re doing.
The video went by so fast for me, I couldn’t really take note – did anyone else see Carol make an appearance? Just wondering if she’s still going to be in this season or not (considering how divisive she was last season).
TVLine, any word on whether Carol is returning this season?
