However, this method is not professional and is time-consuming. Here, we present a modified design of a solar air heater destined to use as a component in an indirect solar dryer of Gelidium sesquipedale. We report the results of simulation of the thermal behavior of a modified simple back-pass solar collector in order to predict parameters influencing its thermal performances, such as the number and the diameter of perforations in the configuration, the airflow rate, the solar irradiance. To achieve this, a 3D simulation with finite element model (FEM) is built using the meteorological data collected at the chosen location during the regular harvesting period (July, August and September). The results show that the optimal simulated configuration of a flat plate solar collector is of seven symmetrical perforations of 30 mm diameter, and mass airflow rate around 60kg/h. The best conditions for drying algae are achieved using a solar collector facing south and inclined by 20° to the horizontal. The air outlet temperature will be in the range of 35 to 44°C that is relevant for low temperature drying of seven hours a day, safeguarding the quality of the red algae destined for processing.

Several processes allow obtaining hydrogen, among them there is the Water Gas Shift (WGS) reaction. On an industrial scale, WGS reaction takes place at high pressure [25–35 bar]. At high pressure, the cost of the process rises due to the energy consumed by compression, and the reduction in the lifetime of the equipment and the catalyst. At low pressures, catalyst lifetime can reach many years and the energy cost is reduced. It is for this reason that we are interested in modelling and simulation of a WGS converter operating at low pressures close to atmospheric pressure. In this work, a numerical study was conducted in order to determine the conditions allowing good rector operating at low pressure. A number of drawbacks of the process were identified. These drawbacks are essentially the non-negligible pressure drops and the strong intraparticle diffusion resistances. The prediction of the concentrations and the reac...

The characterization of photovoltaic generators with acceptable accuracy require the use of suita... more The characterization of photovoltaic generators with acceptable accuracy require the use of suitable experimental devices and appropriate methods. In this study, the used I-V curve tracer (Amiry et al. 2018) [1] allows to collect a current-voltage characteristic of a hundred (I, V) points under real operating conditions. Each (I, V) point is taking in one millisecond. A new method for extracting physical parameters of solar cell single diode model is presented. It allows for the prediction of an I-V characteristic without recourse to any approximation. It is based on considering the current-voltage values (I, V) at short-circuit point (I SC , 0), maximum power point (I m , V m) and open circuit point (0, V OC) provided by the manufacturer. In addition, the current and voltage temperature coefficients K Im and K Vm respectively at maximum power point are estimated independently using two explicit equations associated with two simplified models. The simulation of I-V curves built based on extracted physical parameters depending on temperature allows for making equations that introduce coefficients and allow for approximate description of their behavior depending on temperature. These coefficients form a new basis for technical datasheets to predict the performance of photovoltaic generators according to their operating temperatures. The irradiance effect has been taken into account by introducing specific terms depending on G in these equations. The accuracy of this developed approach is assessed by comparing the experimental characteristics with those plotted using extracted physical parameters values by implemented method and those obtained by other extraction methods reported in the literature.

Each sample was subject to two types of heat treatment: oxygen annealing [O] and argon annealing followed by oxygen annealing [AO]. For each x, the [AO] treatment increases the orthorhombicity epsilon (for 0 <= x <= 1), T-c (for x >= 0.45) and by 6 K to 87 K for x = 1 [AO], and the distance d[Cu(1) - Sr/Ba] (decrease T-c) for x < 0.4 and decrease it (increase T-c) for x > 0.4. In the normal state, the [AO] treatment reduced the linear resistivity parameters indicating a diminution of the interaction of carrier charges with phonons. There was a remarkable improvement in the shielding effect S (amplitude of chi'(T)) in the case of the samples [AO] at all T < T-c and for any applied field for x > 0.5. For each x and heat treatment, S(x) decreases when and the temperature increase. Remarkable correlations were observed. A combination of several factors such as decrease in d[Cu(1) - (Sr/Ba)]; increase in cationic and chain oxygen ordering; and in-phase purity for the [AO] samples may account for the observed data.

It is a single pass solar air heater with glazing and corrugated sheet metal absorber locally manufactured and destined for red algae Gelidium sesquipedale drying. The heater is continuously maintained towards the sun in order to increase the absorbed energy. Solar irradiance, inlet and outlet air temperature of the solar heater, as well as the average temperature at the absorber surface are measured. Special care is taken to airflow measurements. The effect of collector tilt angle on its thermal and effective performances is characterized. For a tilt angle of 60° and under an average irradiance of 811 W/m² during 9 hours of exposure, 3 kWh/m 2 are harvested, with an efficiency of 41.2% and a temperature rise of 22 °C. The corresponding specific power is 337 W/m², which is about 14.7 times the power of the used draft fan. The...

To achieve this aim, four sites well spread across this climatic zone were selected, and four references days were chosen. The statistical parameters such as relative mean bias error (rMBE), the relative root mean square error (rRMSE), and the determination coefficient are calculated. According to these results, the Bird model produces acceptable estimates with 62.5% of good results of rMBE ranging between 0 and 6%; 25% of average results of rRMSE ranging between 11% and 14%, and 62.5% of good results of ranging between 0.90 and 0.96. The comparison of both means of DNI, calculated and measured for a given site and day of reference, using the paired t-test, states that for a level of significance of 1%, the Bird model and the REST2 model give in the quart...
