Paint wash Mix 1/4 cup of paint with 3/4 cup of water, then apply the mixture to bare bare and immediately wipe it off with a lint-free cloth. You can do as many coats to build up coverage. 2. Bleach After sanding your piece to bare wood, pour household bleach directly onto the wood, saturating it, and let it dry in the sun. Repeat as needed, rinse with water,let it dry then sand with 220 grit to remove roughness. 3. Painted faux wood(Yes, this works on fake wood) To create a faux wood effect, prime the piece and paint it with your favorite beige paints.
