Icelandic designer Sigurjón Pálsson has captured the essence of these birds in simple silhouettes, crafted from solid oak. Stockholm Design Week 2024 has many interesting designs and innovations. One that is impressive and environment-friendly is the launch of Mat chairs – which are made from bio-based materials – by Denmark-based design brand, Normann Copenhagen. Mat chairs use hemp and eelgrass as the basic building material. It is the result of years of research and development by the design duo Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen who partnered with Normann Copenhagen to bring this furniture to life.
