Friederike Zenker
Friederike Zenker is working as a research scholar at the University of Basel, Switzerland. She is currently managing director and coordinator at eikones – Center for the Theory and History of the Image at the University of Basel. Her research focuses on ethics and animal media studies. In September 2020, she completed her interdisciplinary doctorate in philosophy and film studies «Siguläre Tiere. Der Begriff der tierlichen Singularität in Tierethik, Fotografie und Film» (engl.: «Singular Animals. Animal Singularity in Animal Ethics, Photography, and Film»). While working on the dissertation, Friederike Zenker was also co-curator and collaboratively organized events open to research scholars and a broader public. She teaches philosophy and image theory. Friederike Zenker studied philosophy and German philology at University of Freiburg i. Br., University of Basel and University of Glasgow.
