PhD in History and International Relations of Asia (Cagliari University, Italy - 2005)
Post-Doc in History of South East Asia (Paris VII University, France 2008)
My research activities have been mainly focused on the contemporary history of the Southeast Asian region. Such research has dwelt on the analysis of social and economic factors. The main areas of my research include the history of Imperialism, French colonialism in Indochina and Vietnamese nationalist movements, also the history of economic relations between local firms –particularly Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian companies– and French trading companies on the Mekong river. I am also interested in labor history during French colonial domination.
Recently, my research interest has included development studies and, more precisely, contemporary labor conflicts in Southeast Asia– dockers’ history in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
