Through following Participatory Action Research and Indigenous Methodologies with the Gamilaroi French family in the Upper Hunter Valley, NSW, and drawing on both anthropology and peacebuilding, valuable new insights have been gained into the extent, interrelations and types of violence Aboriginal peoples are facing; into the unique nature of Aboriginal trauma; and into implicit Aboriginal resources for addressing and transforming such violence. A new methodological and conceptual framework is presented – 'Aboriginal peacebuilding' – to both uncover continuing settler colonial genocide, and to value and articulate resources for Aboriginal peacebuilding embedded in Kamilaroi French everyday sociality, implicit values, and historicised experiences.
