This isn’t what I usually post, but I need to address this 🚨❗️

I don’t usually talk about matters like these, but this isn’t the first time I’ve gotten a comment like this, and I’ve gone back and forth on whether I should respond. Part of me thinks this is just ragebait, that there’s no way someone genuinely believes this. But at the same time, dismissing it as trolling doesn’t sit right with me either. Because if this is a real mindset, then I don’t want to let it slide and give the impression that I’m okay with it. I’m not.

First of all, that’s a wildly inappropriate and offensive thing to say. Second, maybe my emotions are running high right now, but I have to say, the whole “your type of people” phrasing, combined with the implication that a Latina woman is somehow a downgrade from the all-American cheerleader fantasy? That’s not just wrong, it’s flat-out racist. Please refrain from sending that to me. Or to anyone.

Yes, I’m Latina, I’m Mexican, as I’ve stated in my profile, and I imagine that’s why anon feels comfortable using phrases like “your people.” But I’m sorry, that kind of language isn’t just casual, it’s setting us apart. And honestly, it sounds condescending. I don’t care if it wasn’t meant to be offensive, it still is.

And yes, Sofia (Rafe’s love interest) is Latina too. That doesn’t make her “less than,” and it certainly doesn’t mean someone like Rafe—or anyone, for that matter—would be out of character for being with a Latina. Reducing someone’s dating choices to a stereotype or political assumption is lazy, uninformed, and frankly disgusting. Do better.

I don’t know if this person meant to be offensive (I really hope not), but they were. And comments like this are exactly why representation still matters—because clearly, some people still have a problem seeing women like us as worthy of anything but being typecast or ignored.

beautiful reply. latina representation is so important— especially now.

the constant discrimination that my people have always received is crazy to me.

Truly, things like this only make it clear how necessary latinoamericana representation is in many things, especially in this app🗣️
