People get so nervous to be incorrect about things that they consider to be well known and it makes for some fun conversation at work.

Customer: I’ve been struggling all day to landscape and garden snd I can’t find the right answer and I really need some help and I don’t know what I’m doing, can you help me?

Me: Yeah no problem! What are you working on?

Customer: Well I just planted some trees but I can figure out what that STUFF is, yknow?

Me: What stuff?

Customer: That wood chippy, mulchy stuff that people put around the base of a tree!

Me: As far as I’m aware, it’s just mulch. Like the same mulch that you put in a garden bed.

Customer: *stares at me and processes*

Customer: oh my god all day I thought I was dumb but it’s just the obvious answer

So I adopted a new garden at the city park where I volunteer and its so so pretty but the absolute star of the show is this amaryllis that was originally planted in this garden in about 1910. If properly cared for, amaryllis will live for decades! I am honored to have this in my little slice of heaven garden.

There’s lots of greens so I added some dianthus, caladium, plumbago, winecup, and salvia for some color!

At work someone asked me which soil is best for flowers. And I brought them to the flower specific soil. But then they got the top soil.

And then they asked for perennial flowers that can be in full sun. And I showed them a bunch, and then they got a shade annual.

Why do they bother asking me questions and having me walk with them to help them find the right things.

I thought I had heard all of the dumb questions. I thought that no one could shock me with their sheer dumbness. And then at work a guy walks up to me while I’m watering the plants and says:

“I don’t know if this is something that you would know, but does the potting soil have dirt in it?”

I explained that yes it does have dirt, in fact it is almost completely dirt. And he asked me if I’m sure. He asked “ is it just mixed in there? I would like it to be mostly dirt.”

I don’t understand

My plant goals for summer 22:

🌱 Be more active on here, lol. I want to be able to look back on my plant journey and document how my babies grow. I have been slacking off a bit bcs of other things (work+school+mental health).

🌱 Take a whooole lot of cuttings, firstly from all my different pothos plants. They need pruning and I’m so excited about seeing small cuttings grow into bigger plants.

🌱 Do a real cute setup on my balcony (with outdoor plants). I wanna spend so much time there during summer.

BONUS:

🌱 Change this blogs appearance bcs rn I’m so tired of it lmao

Do you have any goals or plant related plans? I’m so curious, let’s inspire each other 💘
