  • Two digital sketches on one page. Top: a landscape, inspired by big murals in Moscow paleo museum (Orlov's museum), featuring Magyarosaurus, and a few pterosaurs and other sauropods in the background. Magyarosaurus there slowly goes into the water, looking down on it. The vibe is peaceful, just like a quiet sunrise in the early day during summer. Wish i was there too. Bottom: a portrait of a Pycnonemosaurus walking through a canyon, looking at the camera. The most of the animal is in shadow, but there's a hard edge of light coming from up and behind. This guy looks like he smells like dust, warm skin and a stinky dogs breath. But i love him anyway.ALT
Two digital colored sketches on one page. Top: a silly looking fish Platysomus. Just a few swimming there, some are blurred against the dark background. Two of them are close to the camera. No thoughts in their eyes at all. Bottom: a clutch of eggs, with a mother - Palaeoctopus, protecting them. You can only see a few of her arms, so it's mostly about babies. They're almost ready to hatch, and their mother is close to being forever lost in time again. Extant female octopuses die not long after their eggs hatch. And it's actually more complicated than just starvation (if you're interested - there's a lot to read about it!). I don't think we know if Palaeoctopus did that too, but i've speculated that at least they could guard their eggs too.ALT

flocking day! i think i got tired from bright colors this week. just wanna look at dark rivers with grey sand and black clouds above them. waiting for the first thunderstorm of the year like i haven't seen them in a decade.
    hope you all are ok

  • I should draw rouge the bat. But in what circumstance

  • I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.

-Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles

  • Where else but tumblr can you see greater insights to your own nature completely detached from your self made by strangers that know you without knowing you and will only ever recall the phantom of an echo once farted into the abyss, never your name

  • And nobody will even tell me how to draw rouge the bat

Michael A Davenport, 3,090 Degrees Fahrenheit (Oil on canvas, 2025)

    30in x 48in

  • From the artist’s Inprnt:

“3,090 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature at which sand becomes glass, in a process known as the Pilkington Process. This is not the temperature of burning; this is the temperature of becoming something.”
