Don't Say a Word

Don't Say a Word is a 2001 psychological thriller film starring Michael Douglas, Brittany Murphy and Sean Bean based on the novel of the same title by Andrew Klavan. Don't Say a Word was directed by Gary Fleder and written by Anthony Peckham and Patrick Smith Kelly.

Plot

In 1991, a gang of thieves steal a rare $10-million gem, but, in the process, two of the gang double-cross their leader, Patrick Koster (Sean Bean) and take off with the precious stone.

Ten years later, on the day before Thanksgiving, prominent private practice Manhattan child psychiatrist, Dr. Nathan R. Conrad (Michael Douglas), is invited by his friend and former colleague, Dr. Louis Sachs (Oliver Platt), to examine a disturbed young lady named Elisabeth Burrows (Brittany Murphy) at the state sanatorium.

Having been released from prison on November 4, Patrick and the remaining gang members break into an apartment which overlooks Nathan's apartment, where he lives with his wife Aggie (Famke Janssen) and daughter Jessie (Skye McCole Bartusiak). That evening, Patrick kidnaps the psychiatrist's daughter as a means of forcing him to acquire a six-digit number from Elisabeth's memory.

Andrew Klavan

Andrew Klavan, (born 1954), also known by his pen name Keith Peterson, is an American writer of mystery novels, psychological thrillers, and screenplays for "tough-guy" mystery films. Two of Klavan's books have been adapted into motion pictures: True Crime (1999) and Don't Say a Word (2001). He has been nominated for the Edgar Award four times and has won twice. Playwright and novelist Laurence Klavan is his brother.

Klavan also has written columns and appeared as a political commentator for a variety of conservative publications such as the news-magazine City Journal and PJ Media.

Personal life

Klavan was born in New York City. His parents were Phyllis and Gene Klavan, the latter a New York City disc jockey and one-half of the radio show "Klavan and Finch". He grew up on Long Island with his three brothers. He studied Business at the University of California, Berkeley. At this time, he self-identified as a political liberal while opposing some liberal policies, such as affirmative action.

Say a Word

"Say A Word" was the Austrian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, performed in English by Manuel Ortega.

The song was performed third on the night (following the United Kingdom's Jessica Garlick with "Come Back" and preceding Greece's Michalis Rakintzis with "S.A.G.A.P.O."). At the close of voting, it had received 26 points, placing 18th in a field of 24.

The song is a pledge from Ortega to his lover that she only needs to "say a word" and he will be there for her.

It was succeeded as Austrian representative at the 2003 Contest by Alf Poier performing "Weil der Mensch zählt".

"Don't Say" is a song performed by Jon B, issued as the lead single from his second studio album Cool Relax and produced by Jon-John. The song peaked at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997.

The official music video was directed by Kevin Bray and features Sanaa Lathan as Jon B's love interest.
