State highways in Kentucky are maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which classifies routes as either primary or secondary. Some routes, such as Kentucky Route 80, are both primary and secondary, with only a segment of the route listed as part of the primary system. Despite the name, there is no difference in signage between primary and secondary routes.
Due to the large size of the state highway system, only segments of routes that are part of the primary system are listed below. Complete lists are on the following pages:
All of the Interstates and parkways are also primary, but only parts of the U.S. Highways in Kentucky are (though every mainline U.S. Highway is at least partially primary).
Kentucky Route 949 (KY 949) is a rural secondary east–west state highway in west-central Kentucky.
KY 949's western terminus is located just north of Dunmor at a junction with U.S. Route 431 (US 431) in southeastern Muhlenberg County. It winds and curves its way through Gus, crosses the Mud River into Butler County and ends at an intersection on KY 06 just south of Huntsville.
It serves a direct link from western Butler County to the Lake Malone area.
Kentucky Route 133 (KY 133) is a 19.166-mile-long (30.845 km) state highway in Livingston County. It runs from an unknown location on Shelby Road south of Padon Road southeast of Salem to KY 317 east of Golconda, Illinois via Salem, Lola, and Joy.
The entire route is in Livingston County.
Route 20, or Highway 20, may refer to:
State Route 20 (SR 20) is a state highway in the northern central region of the U.S. state of California, running east–west across the state north of Sacramento. Its west end is at SR 1 in Fort Bragg, from where it heads east past Clear Lake, Colusa, Yuba City, Marysville, and Nevada City to I-80 near Emigrant Gap, where eastbound traffic can continue on other routes to Lake Tahoe or Nevada.
Portions of SR 20 are built near the routing of what was first a wagon road and later a turnpike in the late nineteenth century. This road was extended through the state highway system all the way to Ukiah in the early twentieth century, and the missing link near Clear Lake was completed in 1932 before the official designation of this highway as SR 20 in 1934. There have been subsequent improvements to the road, such as the conversion of the Grass Valley portion of the route to freeway standards.
State Route 20 east of US 101 is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System, although it is mostly a two-lane surface road. All of SR 20 is on the Interregional Road System, a highway system that connects major economic centers of the state, and has been selected by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) as a High Emphasis Route and Focus Route from US 101 to SR 29 and SR 53 to I-80, with the designated corridor following SR 29 and SR 53 around the south side of Clear Lake. It is also eligible for the State Scenic Highway System from SR 1 to SR 16 and SR 49 to I-80, and has been designated as such for 6 miles (10 km) near the east end; this is part of the federally designated Yuba-Donner Scenic Byway, a National Scenic Byway that uses SR 20 east of SR 49.
Illinois Route 120 (IL 120) is a major east–west state highway in northeastern Illinois. It runs from U.S. Route 14 near Woodstock to Illinois Route 131 in Waukegan. It travels a distance of 34.48 miles (55.49 km) and is one of the few roads that provides direct access from McHenry County to Interstate 94 (Tri-State Tollway) in Lake County. Throughout its length, it shifts between two and four lanes as it passes through a setting that consists of open rural areas, as well as larger developments and heavy congestion.
Although small capacity improvements have been made over time, a lengthy two lane section of road in the Grayslake vicinity has yet to see any major expansion. This key segment has been the subject of much delay and debate regarding the greater traffic flow across north-central Lake County. In October 2009, a special council approved a unified vision for an improvement plan for most of the Lake County portion of Illinois 120, which includes a long discussed bypass around downtown Grayslake.
Kentucky Route 20 is a 20.725-mile state highway in Kentucky that runs from KY 18 north of Belleview to the middle segment of KY 8.
KY 20 begins heading northwest. Near Petersburg, it heads northeast, before turning to the east in Petersburg. KY 20 meets the western segment of KY 8 and provides access to Interstate 275 west. KY 20 merges to the right and passes through Idlewild. KY 20 meets KY 212 just north of the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport. KY 212 provides access to Interstate 275 east. KY 20 passes over Interstate 275 but does not have direct access. KY 20 descends into the Ohio Valley and comes to an end at the middle segment of KY 8 west of Villa Hills.
The entire route is in Boone County.
