In addition to those Romanian writers who succeeded in gaining recognition both in a foreign country and in their country of birth, many others have unfairly remained unknown to the Romanian readers. Ilinca Zarifopol-Johnston is a writer, translator and editor of two early Romanian texts of the philosophical essayist E. M. Cioran, On the Heights of Despair and Tears and Saints, and a professor in the Department of Comparative Literature at Indiana University, Bloomington. She is the younger daughter of the Romanian writer Dinu Zarifopol, who himself did not receive popular or critical recognition for his work in Romania. The current article, which provides some general information about Ilinca Zarifopol-Johnston’s life and academic work, is an attempt to arouse the reader’s interest in this Romanian author’s literary works, especially in her book entitled Searching for Cioran.

Nina Zarechnaya is metaphorically seen in this research paper as a prototype of the apprentice in acting, as she is clearly a teenager facing the decision to engage in an artistic career and the ensuing hold-backs, such as her desperate attempts to perform, which culminate in personal and professional failure. In my paper, I have attributed a type of syndrome to this famous character, as a label for a great number of obstacles acting students have to overcome.

Despite the last decades' growing interest in discussing Cicero's philosophical works there is still no consensus among scholars regarding the purposes these works were written for. In this article, by focusing on some fragments from works like the ‚Hortensius‛ and ‚Consolatio‛, I will try to offer new grounds for reading and interpreting Cicero not only as a philosopher of public and political affairs, as he is usually seen by modern scholars, but also as a philosopher of the theoretical life.

The goal of sustainable design is to find thouse constructive solutions, which are reflected in the construction features, which will ensure on the one hand the welfare and on the other hand the coexistence of the three groups that make up the global ecosystem (inorganic elements, living organisms and people). Achieving sustainable design goal is through education in a conceptual framework that has three levels: principles, strategies and methods. They correspond to the three objectives of architectural education regarding the environment: the creation of care towards the environment, explaining the building ecosystem and learning how buildings can be designed in the concept of sustainable development. Each of this principles includes a unique set of strategies, whose study leads to a better understanding of the interaction with the environment. This creates the premise for analyzing the specific methods that both builders together and architects together with other professionals can apply to reduce the impact of buildings they made with the environment.

Creanga's narrative model is an important subject in the investigation of some fundamental aspects of the prosaic phenomenon in the Dniester and Prut area. At different periods of the evolution of Bessarabian prose, Creanga is a standard of artistic transfigurations. Critics have tried to prove that namely the orality, the paramiological erudition, the brilliant instinctive sense of language and folk ethos, the pleasure of storytelling are sure marks of an indubitable narrative model - Creanga. Creanga's narrative model has a decisive impact in Bessarabian prose in affirming a dialogue of texts.

Recenzii 139 natura de bază a unui dicționar. În susținerea acestei afirmații pot fi enumerate: prezența generoasă a sinonimelor, indicațiile varii de registru stilistic, bogăția semnificatelor și a sensurilor (R. Zafiu subliniază, cu umor, că e normal ca într-un dicționar care se adresează italienilor, articolul cafea să includă mai multe sintagme decât putem găsi în DEX), prezența expresiilor pragmatice, idiomatice, uzuale, a colocațiilor, exemplificări variate cu contexte ale limbii vorbite și multe altele. În peisajul materialelor dedicate studiului și predării limbii române în Italia, atât ca limbă străină, cât și ca limbă etnică, moștenită, Dicționarul nou apărut umple un gol și o face în mod exemplar; avem de-a face, cum am încercat să evidențiez pe parcursul acestei intervenții, cu un dicționar, nu aș spune chiar "atipic", dar, oricum, mai mult decât ne așteptăm, în general, de la un "simplu" dicționar -și nu mă refer doar la dimensiunile sale, deloc neglijabile, ci, mai ales, la structura sa impresionantă și la inovațiile aduse, pe care sper că am reușit să le creionez, în linii mari, și pe care le enumăr aici: transcrierea fonetică/fonologică, prezența numeroasă a contextelor în care cuvântul-intrare poate să apară (element important mai ales în relație cu motoarele de traducere automată), elemente de gramatică și de morfologie în prezentarea lemelor (indicarea alternanțelor fonetice, a prezenței sau a absenței sufixelor verbale, formele neregulate, tranzitivitate/intranzitivitate, modificările fonetice datorate schimbării genului sau numărului etc.), expresiile idiomatice și frazeologie, colocațiile, introducerea referințelor culturale în descrierea semnificatelor, pentru a relua doar câteva dintre ele. Este rezultatul unei munci migăloase și îndelungate, o muncă luată în serios, dar, poate și mai important, făcută cu dragoste și devotament.
