Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) continues to be associated with Crohn’s disease. Following work in the 1990s that suggested that statutory pasteurisation of milk (72 °C, 15 s) was insufficient to destroy MAP, the UK Dairy Industry increased the holding time to 25 s. Since then, some plants have increased the lethality of pasteurisation further with a number using 78 °C for 27 s. Despite the increase in lethality, a recent survey of pasteurised milk in England found that 10.3% of pasteurised milk samples tested positive for viable MAP. This article discusses the significance of MAP and why viable MAP might be found in pasteurised milk.

Propósito. En este ensayo bibliográfico se analizan las perspectivas e investigación reciente sobre retroalimentación. El argumento central sostiene que es necesario un enfoque pedagógico y dialógico para indagar sobre la interacción entre docente-estudiante y las formas en que participan, interpretan y utilizan la información de la retroalimentación el estudiantado para construir conocimiento. Discusión. El debate se focaliza en la crítica al enfoque de transmisión de información que limita la retroalimentación como una práctica monólogica-unidirecccional centrada en el profesorado. En contraposición, el enfoque socio-constructivista la comprende como un fenómeno social en el que interactúan docentes y estudiantes. Sin embargo, ambas perspectivas reducen la discusión a la búsqueda de un modelo genérico para las buenas prácticas y limitan su función al logro del aprendizaje como producto cognitivo. Conclusiones. Es importante enriquecer el estudio en el campo desde un enfoque pedagógico y de naturaleza social que asuma la retroalimentación como una interacción con la finalidad de problematizar las perspectivas dominantes que delimitan su acción como producto cognitivo relacionado con el rendimiento académico en contextos de educativos.

Every nation aspires to develop its urban and rural areas. The paper explored the effect of financial sector development on agricultural growth in Eswatini using annual time series data from 1990 to 2019 employing the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to evaluate the short-run dynamics. Variables included in the model were; the agriculture value added, agriculture employment, real gross fixed capital formation in the agricultural sector, and ratio of M3 to GDP, domestic credit to private sector, inflation rate and real interest rate. Secondary data on obtained from the Central Bank of Eswatini and the World Bank Database online. The Augmented Dickey-Fuller test and Johansen co-integration test were conducted before modelling. The results revealed that that development in the financial sector plays a crucial role in boosting agricultural growth. Agricultural growth requires investment in capital formation, adequate labour force, broad money supply, low and stable levels of inflation and domestic credit to rural farmers. The study found an inverse relationship between inflation, interest rate and agricultural growth. The existence of the inverse relationship will encourage agricultural growth and development in the economy.

Η Porta Retimiotta, είναι η μία από τις τρεις πύλες της προμαχωνικής οχύρωσης των Χανιών. Κτίστηκε κατά το β΄μισό του 16ου αιώνα στο μέσο του νότιου ευθύγραμμου τείχους (cortina) του οχυρωματικού περιβόλου, σε μικρή απόσταση δυτικά από το μεγάλο προμαχώνα Piattaforma και στο τέρμα της οδού που ένωνε τις πόλεις των Χανιών και του Ρεθύμνου (σημερινή οδός Αποκορώνου). Αρχικά η επικοινωνία γινόταν με ξύλινη γέφυρα πάνω από την τάφρο και ένας εξωτερικός ημιπρομαχώνας σε συνδυασμό με τα πυρά της Piattaforma ενίσχυαν την άμυνα της κυρίως πύλης. Μετά την κατάκτηση της πόλης από τους Τούρκους το 1645, έγιναν ορισμένες αλλαγές στην πύλη, η οποία πλέον ονομάστηκε Kale Kapisi (πύλη του Φρουρίου) και χρησίμευε για να προστατεύει τη νέα κυρίαρχη τάξη των Οθωμανών από τις συχνές αντιδράσεις των χριστιανών κατοίκων κυρίως της υπαίθρου. Η πύλη κατεδαφίστηκε το 1899, τον πρώτο χρόνο της Κρητικής Πολιτείας, από το Δήμο για τη διεύρυνση της οδού Μουσούρων, αλλά και ως πράξη συμβολική, αφού υπενθύμιζε στους κατοίκους τους αιώνες της δουλείας. Ο προμαχώνας γειτονικός Piattaforma επίσης χρησιμοποιήθηκε για τη θεμελίωση πάνω του της νέας εντυπωσιακής Δημοτικής Αγοράς. Το 1908 καθαιρέθηκαν οι δυο επιπρομαχώνες και με τα προϊόντα της καθαίρεσης ισοπεδώθηκε η τάφρος και διαμορφώθηκε σε πλατεία, εμπρός από την Αγορά, αφού κατεδαφίστηκε και το ανώτερο μέρος του προμαχώνα, ο οποίος σώζεται σχεδόν ακέραιος σε κατάχωση. Στη δεκαετία του 1980 αποκαλύφθηκε και αναδείχτηκε από τη 13η Εφορεία το ανώτερο μέρος του προμαχώνα από τη δυτική πλευρά.
