Penelitian korelasional merupakan penelitian yang paling banyak digunakan dan telah memberikan sumbangan yang sangat berarti bagi perkembangan pengetahuan di bidang pendidikan (Cornell dalam Hadjar, 1999:277). Dalam penelitian jenis ini, peneliti berusaha menghubungkan suatu variabel dengan variabel yang lain untuk memahami suatu fenomena dengan cara menentukan tingkat atau derajat hubungan di antara variabel-variabel tersebut. Tingkat hubungan tersebut ditunjukkan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi yang berfungsi sebagai alat untuk membandingkan variabilitas hasil pengukuran terhadap variabel-variabel tersebut. Pengetahuan tentang tingkat hubungan tersebut diharapkan dapat menambah pemahaman tentang faktor-faktor dalam karakteristik yang kompleks dari suatu fenomena seperti prestasi belajar.

History has not been a pacesetter when it comes to taking teaching and learning seriously. The essay explores why this is so and then surveys the exciting new research that applies historians' scholarly methods to issues and problems of interest to history teachers. Historians have an important role to play in developing a scholarship of teaching and learning. Because they are used to the challenge of constructing narratives from the slippery complexity of human behavior, they are ideally suited for investigating the difficult problems related to teaching and learning. Gaining an audience among historians for this new type of research will be difficult. But the authors are reasonably confident that, with the support of the discipline's professional organizations and its teaching journals, and inspired by the excellent work already being done by the field's pioneer researchers, historians will come to value what the scholarship of teaching and learning has to offer. If historians were hauled before the Bar of Good Ideas and accused of fomenting a scholarship of teaching and learning, would there be enough evidence to convict us? Probably not. But the mere fact of an indictment would signify progress, as a decade ago there would not have been enough evidence to justify a trial. Today most historians would have to be considered not guilty of taking rigorous, scholarly approaches to the problems they encounter as teachers. But change is in the air. Dozens of historians working in different institutional and national contexts have been making significant contributions to a promising new line of inquiry based on the assumption that the ways in which people become historically minded ought to be a matter of the highest scholarly concern. 1 The quality of this emergent scholarship leads us to believe that in the not too distant future the scholarship of teaching and learning will win for itself a respected place in the historical profession. While at present the scholarship of teaching and learning is the most useful, the most generative, and potentially the most transforming field of Commented [WWC1]: Weeks or days? Commented [MK2]: This could be the place to bring up state-mandated assessment much earlier…another reason why SoTL may prove to be so important.

This article describes how news organizations are exploring the idea of personalized newspaper. To obtain the data, we analyzed 43 online newspapers worldwide that attract a significant number of unique users per month, 42 in all categories of analysis. Most newspapers offer free access to news. Thirty-four of 37 papers which had Privacy Policy declared that collected information about users via cookies, associated or not with other tracking technologies, to direct editorial and commercial content, as well as develop new products and / or services. Regarding the types of news personalization features, 36 newspapers adopted one or more adaptable personalization features; 38 incorporating ephemeral personalization and, only two, persistent personalization, both classified as adaptive personalization features. The results indicate that the personalization at online newspaper is ongoing and is likely to increase to maximize revenue online at a time that few organizations can do journalism online a profitable business.
