The book "Precisiones sobre arquitectura religiosa contemporánea" by Esteban Fernández-Cobián analyzes the symbolic meaning of religious architecture. The author proposes an interesting reflection on the meaning and interpretation of the holy place that invites the reader to go beyond the plastic appearance of the same architecture and look for its true values. This review anticipates some of the issues covered in the volume.

In the 1530, Carlos V was crowned in Bologna as Holy Roman Emperor and the Reale Collegio di Spagna decided to show how loyalty it was, is and will be to the monarchy through the frescoes of their present portineria. In it, we can see how the founder, Gil de Albornoz, and the rector are joined with their king with a special woman, which is the center of the space. This woman incarnates the idea of the Wisdom as the perfect wife, as the Book of Proverbs and the Book of Wisdom conceived it but with the visual culture of the beginning of the XVI century. So the scholar could be received by this lady to desire to reach only her in their years in the Universitas, ergo love her because she says us "Ego diligentes, me diligo".

ABSTRACT The Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (Mexico) is a higher education center whose founding charism is strongly influenced by the social doctrine of the Catholic Church. It is a popular university, supported by donations from civil society. In fact, during its early years, neither professors charged fees nor students paid tuition. Its Faculty of Architecture maintains agreements with various civil and religious institutions to advise them in the construction of their places of worship. In 2014, UPAEP's Board of Governors decided to build a definitive chapel on its own central campus that would go beyond the provisional solutions that had been accommodated in various school buildings. The challenge was great, since the School of Architecture currently has agreements with various civil and ecclesiastical institutions - among them the Archbishopric of Puebla - to advise them in the construction of their places of assembly and worship. The construction of the chapel thus appeared as a sample of what the university could offer Mexican society, and its results, as the ratification of the validity of its theoretical principles. Taking the design and construction of the chapel as a pretext, we would like to show here the relationship between architecture, craftsmanship and identity in the framework of the process of settlement of the UPAEP within the Puebla society. The discussion between the local and the universal in Catholicism is decisive, as well as the consideration of the building itself as a possible model to follow. So is the debate on modernity within the sphere of worship, which has shaped Mexican architecture from Luis Barragán to the present day.
