Abstract|There has been a tremendous growth in wireless technology in the last decade. This advancement has changed how people do business in Mobile Commerce (M-Commerce) environment. For creating a more secure and exible m-commerce infrastructure so as to meet the new demands, we need to leverage new technologies like 3G/UMTS, Bluetooth, EDGE and at the same time utilize the older ones like WAP, GSM, HSCSD, and GPRS. M-Commerce oers the possibility of an entire new level of nancial exibility, taking advantage of both social and technological developments. Several M-Commerce issues relating security, bandwidth, and business are discussed in this paper to meet the challenges of future commerce using mobile wireless technology.

In the last decade the separate technologies of the Internet and mobile computing have started converging with the advent of two major technologies, WAP and i-mode, that emerged and attempted to realize the vision of wireless Internet. This paper reviews the main technological, architectural and business issues related to WAP and imode. It also discusses their main assets and weaknesses as well as their current status and the trends expected to affect their market share and customer basis in the future.

Mobile commerce has emerged as an innovative technology due to the prevailing of pervasive computing. However, on-line secure transaction mechanisms can not be applied to the mobile commerce due to the inadequate computing capability of mobile devices and lower security of wireless transmission than that of wired transmission. It is mandatory how to proceed securely with the transaction of on-line ordering and, in the meantime, to obtain proper protection of transaction issued by consumers via mobile devices. However, the secure connection mechanisms can be modified to apply to the mobile devices. This paper focuses on the comparison and analysis of the secure connection mechanisms in the mobile commerce.

Barely before Internet-facilitated e-commerce has begun to take hold, a new wave of technology-driven commerce has started—mobile (m-) commerce. Fuelled by the increasing saturation of mobile technology, such as phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs), m-commerce promises to inject considerable change into the way certain activities are conducted.
This paper presents the various standards and technologies with respect to various applications in the field of mobile commerce. It also compares J2ME with other technologies and standards are also compared so that more understanding of the various issues can be had while designing the mobile commerce applications. This paper analyzes the various technologies used for mobile commerce along with their advantages and disadvantages.
The radical evolution of computers and advancement of technology in the area of hardware (smaller size, weight, low power consumption and cost, high performance) and communications has introduced the notion of mobile computing. Mobile Commerce is an evolving area of e-commerce, where users can interact with service providers through a mobile and wireless network using mobile device for information retrieval and transaction processing. Mobile wireless market is increasing by leaps and bounds. The quality and speeds available in the mobile environment must match the fixed networks if the convergence of the mobile wireless and fixed communication network is to happen in the real sense. The challenge for mobile network lie in providing very large footprint of mobile services with high speed and security. Online transactions using mobile devices must ensure high security for user credentials and it should not be possible for misuse. The paper discusses issues related to M-Commerce security.

Advances in Internet and network technology and the rapidly growing number of mobile personal devices result in the fast growth of Mobile E-Commerce, M-Commerce. In this paper we view M-Commerce as activity of conducting E-commerce transactions using mobile terminals over a wireless network. A special case of M-commerce are Location Based Services (LBS) where often the actual position of the
The phenomenal growth in the use of cellular phones and, more recently, also of wirelessly enabled Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), is giving rise to yet another revolution in the business world. This revolution is focused on conducting business on the move or mobile commerce (m-Commerce). This trend is fueled by a consumer interest in being able to access business services or to communicate with other consumers anytime and anywhere. It is also motivated by the interest of the business community to extend their reach to customers at all times and at all places. This paper starts by exploring the similarities and differences between m-Commerce and e-Commerce, followed by an overview of the technologies that support m-Commerce and in particular wireless networks, protocols and devices. A framework for analyzing the types of interactions that a typical consumer might be engaged in within a wireless environment is then introduced. An analysis of the various consumer needs and concerns for m-Commerce services/products is then presented. Several business applications are explored in the context of the proposed framework. Finally, the necessary business and technological requirements for the ultimate success of these m-Commerce applications are discussed along with some managerial implications.

ABSTRACT Advances in wireless technology increase the number of mobile device users and give pace to the rapid development of e-commerce using these devices. The new type of e-commerce, conducting transactions via mobile terminals, is called mobile commerce. Due to its inherent characteristics such as ubiquity, personalization, flexibility, and dissemination, mobile commerce promises business unprecedented market potential, great productivity, and high profitability.
