200 mph, Safe, Self-Driving Cars, Trucks, Economical

Modern thinking regarding transportation seems to overlook the unavoidable fact that both "operator error" and "Artificial Intelligence error" will forever cause hundreds of thousands of automotive accidents and deaths if and when "driverless vehicles" would some day be refined. Still, such "self-driving" vehicles would never "safely" be able to go faster than around 50 mph. Some "experts" now concede that it would be many decades before this situation might even become possible. Instead, a far safer and far better technology ALREADY exists. For the past sixty years, many hundreds of billions of perfectly safe "Drive-Through Banking" transactions have proceeded where "canisters" whiz around inside pneumatic tubes that carry money and papers between Bank Tellers and vehicle drivers. Larger-scale structures of such pneumatic tubes also already exist where large-diameter reinforced concrete culverts carry water and air underneath highways. also, fifty years ago, the 700-mile-long Alyeska Oil Pipeline was built across Alaska to carry liquid crude petroleum to ocean freighters. That Alyeska Oil Pipeline uses aircraft jet engines to power the flow of the oil. A variation of that Alyeska metal tube provides the answer we want. (See the culvert installation photo below). Five-foot-diameter, very straight, reinforced concrete culverts can be installed on, above (on pillars) or below (buried underground) on highway medians, where aircraft jet-engine exhaust at 230 mph could drive SUV-sized "canisters" or "Pods" (which contain passengers or freight) which would actually physically "fly" inside those concrete culverts at exactly 200.0 mph, by a process called Bernoulli Lift. News stories regularly tell us about electric vehicles having their thousands of batteries explode and of driverless vehicles killing pedestrians and bicyclists. They rarely mention that such vehicles rarely go faster than 50 mph or for more than a few hours. This very different technology absolutely ensures that NO DANGER EXISTS for anyone, as all the Pods are all forever safely inside very sturdy reinforced concrete culverts. Better still, all of the passengers and freight always travels at precisely the same speed, 200.0 mph, so even inside the culverts, no collisions of any sort are possible. No pollution. Large-Diameter reinforced concrete Culverts under construction The TRANS system is SO efficient that all transportation and freight would cost only around one-tenth of current costs. The TRANS sturdy, standard reinforced concrete culvert tubes are each only five feet long with gaskets between every section. Lasers ensure perfectly straight tubes. The TRANS System resembles a giant version of the pneumatic tubes that banks use to transfer money and papers for drive-through banking. SUV-sized Fiberglas Pods (140 cu.ft. volume) move through the tubes for an individual or a family or a thousand pounds of freight or produce, which all travel at exactly the same speed, 200.0 mph, inside the sturdy tubes, so no accidents are possible. You would schedule a specific pickup time and location and the destination, and pay the Fare, which is often less than a dollar. Urban commuting might cost a Quarter, and only take a few minutes to get to work or back home. Fresh California farm produce to a Boston grocery shelf in 15 hours for a penny a pound. When you drive on an expressway, your engine has to produce 40 hp to overcome Aerodynamic Frontal Drag and Tire Drag, for a constant 65-mph speed. However, imagine that a 230-mph tailwind was behind your vehicle, safely inside the TRANS tube. The Pod is pushed by the THRUST of that tailwind so it does not need any engine. A computer in every Pod ensures that the Pod ALWAYS moves at exactly 200.0 mph inside the culvert, by letting about 30 mph of air to pass through the Pod. A Bernoulli Lift always raises the Pod ¼" up off the bottom of the culvert to fly. An alternator supplies electricity for the pod. TRANS has three different speeds. Between cities, 200.0 mph. Within cities along arteries, 60.0 mph. On residential streets, 30.0 mph. Each Pod has a unique BARCODE so TRANS scanners every mile along every tube monitor the location and speed of each Pod (every 18 seconds along inter-city travel). TRANS has many "air switches" to efficiently get each Pod to its destination. Passenger pods have a gyroscope that slightly rotates the pod within the tube during curved sections of the tubes so that a full glass of wine on a table in the pod never spills. The occupant(s) of a pod could sleep or read. No real sensation of motion is obvious. Large interior flat screen TVs could show local sites, the Taj Mahal, the planet Saturn or recent movies! Most of the Culverts could be on Interstate Highway Medians.
