5G Networks

Network Slicing is a concept that creates multiple virtual networks that serve the purpose of various service requirements. These logical networks created on top of the same physical network infrastructure are called "network slices". Each slice of the network acts as an isolated network that is end-to-end and customized to achieve the requirements as expected by the application. This network slicing is one of the driving aspects in the 5G networks, which promises to provide various services as per the user requirement. A study is made on Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN) which forms the driving aspects for network Slicing in 5G networks. Also, the state of art developments in the field of network slicing has been studied and explained. The paper presents the benefits of 5G network slicing from the technical point of view and later describes different vertical segments that make use of slicing of 5G networks. It can be stated that network slicing in 5G networks offers to improve the efficiency of the 5G networks and also helps to achieve the expected and promised performance of the 5G in the coming future.

The future of cities lies in blending new technologies with existing infrastructure to tackle tangible, pressing issues such as environmental sustainability and economic opportunities. The enormous pressure towards efficient city initiatives by both government and private sector businesses to invest in Information and Communication Technologies to find sustainable solutions to diverse opportunities and challenges (e.g., waste management). Future smart cities are the key to fulfill the ever growing demands of citizens. Successful smart cities will build a strong, flexible, digital infrastructure that integrates new technology into existing structures. The main goal of a smart city is to optimize city functions and promote economic growth while also improving the quality of life for citizens by using smart technologies and data analysis. According to a new report from @NavigantRSRCH, there are more than 250 smart city projects from178 cities around the world, and the majority focus on government and energy, initiatives, followed by transportation.

System performance is an important characteristic in wireless communication. To achieve an intelligent communications and to meet high demand of quality of services (QoS), the next generation requires high data rates transmission and the system which operates at higher spectral efficiency. In this paper, we developed and evaluated the performance of FBMC/OQAM system by using polyphase network structure. In addition, we investigated Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction and Bit Error Rate (BER) degradation for improvement of power amplifier efficiency. The system implementation and result have been carried out by simulation on Matlab software. It has shown that Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) could be a more effective solution for 5G.

Game-theoretic resource allocation algorithms are essential to managing the interference that Device-to-Device (D2D) and cellular transmissions could generate to each other in cellular networks since game-theoretic solutions are naturally autonomous and robust. In this paper, we present a survey on D2D communication in cellular networks with respect to the performance of the existing and accessible game-theoretic resource allocation algorithms published in 2013-2019. Each of the game-theoretic resource allocation algorithms with its properties such as utility, complexity, fairness, overhead cost, and convergence rate are reviewed and compared. The survey proved that game-theoretic solutions could be a viable strategy for practical implementation in 5G networks as each of the reviewed scheme attempts to optimize one or various essential performance metrics in the system. Finally, the paper recommends that serious efforts should be made by standardization bodies in incorporating game-theoretic strategy in D2D-enabled 5G networks while considering it as a road map for reliable and resource-efficient solutions in future cellular networks.
