La prosa diaristica dell’autore italiano contemporaneo Guido Ceronetti è presentata attraverso un commento critico e traduzione di una scelta di note che sono stati precedentemente riportati nella trasmissione radiofonica "Diari e lettere" ("Dnevnici i pisma").

a ellos; sin embargo, el término produce efectos y, según eso, las preguntas por las tensiones que articulan esta
superficie pueden poner en cuestión la noción misma de identidad como presupuesto, exigiendo considerar las estéticas

For decades the intellectual history of twentieth-century Spain has relied on the French model of the political history of intellectuals, which focuses on their positions with regard to political events and the actions of the nation state. This model forgets that one of the fundamental tasks of intellectuals in liberal society is to establish an idea of contemporary culture and the hierarchy of values that defines it. My dissertation tries to rethink the role of intellectuals in the formation of the idea of culture in Spain in the 1920s and 1930s, addressing its political and theoretical complexity. To do so I focus specifically on the cultural conversations around mechanically produced and reproduced visual culture. These conversations took place in the extensive print culture of the time: magazines, newspapers and books. Essays, reviews and printed lectures were where the new mechanically produced images of cinema, photography, and photomontage, were collectively discussed, developing what at the time was called a photographic culture.

My dissertation opens with an introduction that reflects on how the intellectual and the new visual culture interacted in the postwar years in Europe. I argue that both intellectuals and written culture were in crisis at the time, having lost much of their social authority to the new visual mass media. But the politics of the new mass media paradoxically gave a significant social function to the word, particularly the printed word. Much of its authority was reinforced through the essays and criticism of the more clear-sighted of these intellectuals in crisis. In so doing, they attempted to develop new cultural fields of theorization at the same time as a new intellectual authority over those fields.

In my first chapter, I discuss how a new intellectual culture of the cinema was created in the Twenties and Thirties. Most studies have approached the relationship between intellectuals and cinema in Spain through the metaphor of the encounter. I will argue that what happened was in fact a complete rethinking of the subjects that the intellectual could address in order to define modern culture, and, at the same time, a new conceptualisation of cinema that changed how the medium was viewed. To this end I will follow the evolution of two critics, Juan Piqueras and César Muñoz Arconada. From the collectively built idea of what a cinema of aesthetic and intellectual value was supposed to be in the Twenties, to the new political approach to the definition of modern cinema that both embraced in the Thirties, the writings of Piqueras and Arconada show how the modern idea of cinema in Spain was constructed.

My second chapter analyses the role played by publicity photography in the definition of modern culture in Catalonia in the Thirties. Instead of focusing on the canonical aesthetic ideas of what constituted avant-garde photography, I will explore what were the political tasks that the new photographers hoped photography would perform. The writings and photographs of commercial photographer Pere Català Pic will help me explore the complex social functions that publicity photography was felt to have in the modern industrial society that Catalonia was building in the Thirties.

My third and last chapter approaches the writings and images of José Renau, the key figure in the development of political photomontage in Spain. What interests me here is the intellectual dialogue that Renau established with other forms of mechanically produced images in order to develop his ideas on photomontage and its political uses. Renau approached the visual culture of the Thirties as an archive that made it possible to understand or misunderstand the present, and drew on ideas borrowed from cinema, the political essay or advertising in his search for a new form of politically conscious mass visual culture.

De belofte van ongekende mogelijkheden, en tegelijkertijd het besef dat deze veelal onbereikbaar zijn; die dubbelheid karakteriseert onze verhouding tot de horizon. Maar er is nog een tweede dubbelheid in het spel, want de horizon confronteert ons niet alleen met de beperkingen van tijd en plaats, maar stelt ons ook in het vooruitzicht dat wij deze op een gegeven moment achter ons zullen hebben gelaten. De horizon ligt immers niet alleen vóór ons. Zo lichtvoetig als hij voor ons uit rent, zo gulzig zit hij ons achterna. De worsteling met de horizon is er niet alleen een tegen de beperkingen van tijd en plaats, maar onvermijdelijk ook tegen een achter ons oprukkend verlies.

The objective of this paper, which makes use of the concepts of framing from Bernstein’s theory, and habitus from Bourdieu’s theory, is the sociological approach to, and analysis of, the perceptions of postgraduate students of the Hellenic Open University, regarding the extent to which the quality of the professors’ letters of response, which evaluate their written essays, affect the communication between them. Fifty-one students, who were attended the Module “Open Distance Learning” during the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year, took part in the research. The main results of the research showed that with regard to the correction of their written essays by the teacher, the students want: a) communication to take place with the use of the friendly plural form, which reproduces the socially acceptable habitus in Greece for the polite interaction of adults in the educational field; b) the adoption of a friendly and familiar tone of writing in the letters of response, which reveals the tutors’ understanding and acceptance of the peculiarities of the students (weak framing of hierarchical rules); and c) the application of strong framing of Instructional Discourse on evaluation where the tutor replies with clarity and in detail to each student, making the evaluation criteria with which his written essay was corrected explicit. Evaluating the written essays in this manner creates the necessary conditions for positive relations between tutor and students (weak framing of Regulative Discourse) which contributes to the promotion of communication between them.

This is an essay written while under the influence for a magazine. The topic I was asked to write about was: ' Affirmative Prayer'.
As a writing enthusiast who knows more about Roaul Moat and David Sylvian than anything else, it turned out to be alright.

Essay/fiction/poetry published in collaboration with the artist for the book Sten Are Sandbeck. Fashion Ghosts (2012), in conjunction with his exhibition by the same title at Trondheim Kunstmuseum, Norway in 2012. Sten Are Sandbeck exhibited painting/sculpture in an installational form.

Language is always constructed and communicated through the point of view of the producer; and since research is recorded through language (whether that be in written form or orally) it is therefore also composed from the researcher’s position. For this reason research is never value free, it always speaks on behalf of certain ideas, values, beliefs and interpretations whist silencing others. The researcher decides what is and what is not included in the documentation of the research undertaken, and hence holds a certain positionality toward the study. Since the late 1980s positionality within research has been particularly paralyzing for all who arrive at a research conclusion (Nagar and Geiger, 2007), though Marcus (1992) argues that ‘reflexive identification’ is one response to the problem. Reflexivity within research allows the author to consider what impact their positionality has on the research process, and how the research conclusion is somewhat contributed to and constructed through the researcher being part of the research process. This essay will examine how a researcher’s position can contribute to and shape the research outcome within the field of linguistic research. It aims to establish whether the risks associated within positionality can be counter-balanced through reflexive identification; and if reflexivity is an effective strategy to tackle positionality. The question will be addressed through reviewing and analyzing a number of linguistic projects to reveal how a researcher’s position might shape the process and outcomes of their research. It will then address if and how reflexivity can be a sufficient protection against the risks of positionality, and examine whether reflexivity itself is an aid or obstruction within research. Finally, the essay will endeavor to distinguish whether there is a real difference between being ‘reflexive’ and being ‘reflective’ within linguistic research and attempt to justify this in relation to specific linguistic research cases.

Abstract: The search for footing can be thought of as an
essential human experience. Joachim Wittstock’s essays
published in the anthology Einen Halt suchen reveal not only
the socio-political repercussions of this pursuit but also
establish its phenomenology and morphology. In my paper I
will focus on the link between the search for footing and the
mortal condition, thus demonstrating how the true nature of
this pursuit for existential stability and security can be
understood as life’s aversion towards death.

"This paper examines the growth and some of the disputes
surrounding “masculinity” as a legitimate category for both social
and more traditional scholars seeking to understand Late
Antiquity. It shows how investigations of masculinity often serve a
political purpose. Some researchers delve into a topic such as
“homosexuality” as a way of revealing how particular societies
such as ancient Greece and Rome had greater tolerance towards
same-partner sex than their modern counterparts. This agenda
helps to explain why many studies on Late Antique masculinity
focus on men as sexual beings. It might also account for the
reluctance by some academics to accept social history as a
legitimate historical tool.

Abordamos neste artigo a ensaística de Giacomo Debenedetti (1901-1967), buscando identificar seus principais temas e preocupações e caracterizar seu estilo. As diversas referências aí presentes não se restringem à literatura e à arte, atingindo os domínios da psicanálise, sociologia da ciência, teoria da seleção natural e física quântica e pressupondo um leitor não especializado mas erudito. Em seus últimos ensaios, "Personaggi e destino" (1947) e "Commemmorazione provvisoria del personaggio-uomo" (1967), podemos identificar o principal tema de suas obras: o romance e os personagens modernos, que já não podem ser apreendidos como seus correspondentes românticos e naturalistas. O primeiro ensaio lida com o novo tipo de personagem e narrativa apresentados por Joyce, Proust, Pirandello e Kafka e a perda de modelos da literatura oitocentista, enquanto o segundo se centra na análise das novas formas de romance e de personagens.

The words "fact" and "truth" are considered differently among individuals. That is to say that there are people who consider fact and truth as two different concepts, there are those who do not see any difference between them whereas, there are also those who believe that they can be the same but not always. Does the fact that people regard "fact" and "truth" as the same concept make it true that they are the same? The stand of this argumentative essay is that fact is not always the same as truth and it will be argued with substantive points that will first, broaden the understanding of the reader as to what fact and truth mean and then give tangible reasons why truth and fact are not always the same.

ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease or AD is characterised by neurofibrillary knots, or tangles, and beta-amyloid plaques in the brain. Nerve cells waste away and wither and eventually decay and die. AD is a state of atrophy, degeneration, and negation. It is about not thinking right, about not being able to think straight, and not being able to remember. In Heidegger's terms we could think of this as unthinking—or unthought: nots as well as knots. As a site of resistance this essay is highly speculative, an exploration of nonfiction as an experiment with experience, in particular an experiment in writing the father, my father: ‘Visiting Not Dad’. What I am presenting here is a trying out (or essaying) of something … something indistinct, something belonging more to shadows, half-light, the in-betweens, which takes us away from the deductive logic and dogmatism of my father's creationist beliefs opting instead to celebrate empathy and pathos, with a willingness to explore human fallibility, and unsettledness. Through a close-up experience of Alzheimer's disease, and the poetics of jottings and annotations, I ask: is there a possible link between what we know and observe about AD and the necrotising and knotting of the brain, and the search for something indeterminate, poetic, unthought?

Decision makers often perform pavements repairs without considering the maintenance priority and without utilizing a systematic procedure. These kinds of arbitrary decisions do not usually guarantee the effectiveness of budget allocation.Rating approach in Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the most effective techniques in decision making process which was used to facilitate the prioritization of alternatives on the basis of important parameters like pavement condition index, traffic volume and road type. In this study, relative weights of criteria, sub-criteria and inconsistency rate in each pairwise comparison matrix were calculated with the help of MATLAB software, coded M-Files as well as Expert Choice software. Finally, with Ideal-Mode synthesizing in Expert Choice software, final weights for all criteria and sub-criteria were obtained. #STREATstories is a storytelling project focused on the artistic activities and interventions of a social enterprise that successfully supports homeless and disadvantaged young people in Melbourne's inner city. The project explores an 'applied creative writing' approach to creative fieldwork, critical perspectives and imaginative inquiry for researchers keen to employ their writing/research skills and interests to matters of social injustice and inequity. This paper goes 'behind the scenes' to uncover the orientation of four collaborators on this creative research project, all of whom come from very different creative practices, and examine what informs their approach - what and how they do what they do as co-creators and what brings them into this collaborative space. Areas of approach and interest range across ideas of friendship and 'lovence', the 'intimacy of failure', notions of 'giving' voice, and the 'collaboration' between artists and materials. The four contributors to this paper explore how these various interests influence the process of collaboration and co-creation as they negotiate 'that simple but enigmatic step, joining hand, eye and mind' (Carter 2004: xiii). İlköğretim Okullarında “Resimlerle Kompozisyonla Türkçe Öğretimine  ilişkin temel veya yardımcı herhangi bir ders kitabı var mı yok mu bilmiyorum. Böyle bir kitabı henüz görmedim. Ne var ki , İngilizce öğretiminde bu türden “Resimlerle Kompozisyon” örnekleriyle karşılaşmak mümkündür.
Aşağıdaki makalem İngilizce’dekilerden esinlenmekle beraber  “tamamen” özgündür. Öncelikle ,bunu belirtmek gereğini duyuyorum.Bu makalede hemen hemen herşey benim görüş ve düşüncelerimi yansıtmaktadır.
