A research project that documented the experiences of 22 women and found that some had decided not to have children, or restrict their family size, and many women feared the consequences of pregnancy. 'It is desperately sad that women are opting to remain childless because they are unable to get an accurate picture of the risks they face,' said Anna Madill, a supervisor of the research. 'If they have access to that information, they may make an entirely different choice. The healthcare system needs to make sure that women living with IBD have access to all the facts necessary to make a fully informed decision.' Participants were concerned that they would pass down the condition to their children as well as worried that they would be unable to cope with a small child during periods when their condition would flare-up. IBD is an overarching term that defines severe digestive disorders such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, both of which can cause severe stomach pains, weight loss, and recurring diarrhoea. There is no cure for IBD and people living with the condition will experience periods of stability, with no symptoms, and then periods of flare-ups which be debilitating and affect quality of life. In the UK, 1 in 250 people have the condition and its incidence is increasing. The researchers, from the University of Leeds, made three films featuring participants describing their experiences of living with, being pregnant with, and being a mother with IBD. 'One of the main points to emerge from the study is that learning to live with a chronic illness has helped the women prepare for motherhood,' added Ms Madill. 'These women coped well with becoming parents.'

Study Objectives: To compare between neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and other treatments through phase III trials of locally advanced cancer cervix in terms of; benefits, and toxicities. The primary objective was survival benefit.
Searching method: The data source included USA national library of medicine, Medline search, and National Cancer Institute PDQ Clinical Protocols. Inclusion criteria included phase III studies, trials published between January2000 and December2013, squamous cell carcinoma, adenosquamous, and/or adenocarcinoma histologies.
Results: Searching the above websites identified 7 phase III trials that fit with the current inclusion criteria. All the 7 trials included treatment arm for NACT. The other arms were either surgery (4trials), definitive RT (2trials), or both (1trial). Data were collected from 1334 patients. The most commonly used chemotherapy was cisplatin. The 5 year OS for NACT, surgery, and RT were 72.6%, 72%, and 51% respectively. The 5 year PFS for NACT, surgery, and RT were 65%, 63%, and 46% respectively. NACT, and surgery were associated with better toxicities over RT.
Conclusion: NACT is a reasonable treatment option for locally advanced cancer cervix. It achieved comparable results to surgery for stages IB2, IIA. NACT had better results over surgery and RT for stages IIB,III. Further, phase III trials are needed to compare between NACT with CCRT.

India is a developing country with a population of 1.24 billion. Women’s healthcare in India poses two major problems - fertility control and chronic anemia. According to the National Family Health Survey- 3 (NHFS-3) only 49% of the currently married women aged 15-49 yrs use modern contraceptives. Female sterilization is the main type of contraceptive. Two-thirds of women using contraception are sterilized. More than half the women would be sterilized by age of 26 years.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is a deleterious condition which strongly affects a woman’s quality of life. Although aggressive interventions should be considered to treat high-grade EC, a conservative approach should be taken into consideration for women wishing to conceive. In this scenario, we present an overview about the EC fertility-sparing approach state of art. Type I EC at low stage is the only histological type which can be addressed with a fertility-sparing approach. Moreover, no myometrium and/or adnexal invasion should be seen, and lymph-vascular space should not be involved. Regarding the pharmaceutical target, progestins, in particular medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) or megestrol acetate (MA), are the most employed agent in conservative treatment of early-stage EC. Intestinal endometriosis is very rarely manifested by an acute bowel obstruction secondary to ileo-cecal intussusception. We report a case of a 47-year-old female patient with symptoms and signs of an acute small bowel obstruction. CT scan confirmed the intussusception. A right colectomy for suspected malignancy was performed with an ileocolic anastomosis. Histological examination revealed an endometriosis of the ileocecal junction.
