Islamic Psychospirituality

The focus of this paper is the concept of Interiority in Islamic spiritual journey to Metaphysics through analyzing 'Adhkār al-Tarbiya' ritual; it is the initiation of Murids' (the followers) into journey to the highest order of divinity, being the goal of Murids. However, the details of the al-Tarbiya rituals are the same for everyone, the experience reported varied from individual to another. The bottom line is that, they share the same common moderate sense of existence, believing that it is the way to unlock the secret of universal divine unity. The paper applied qualitative research methodology and subcase study design. The paper explored at first-hand level and presented the case of Tijjāniyah followers that experienced Adhkār al-Tarbiya and its influence on their life. The study made attempt to answer the philosophical question of human psycho-spirituality through exploring Adhkār al-Tarbiya of Tijjāniyah tradition. The study concluded that spiritual journey from Tijjāniyah tradition does a serious impact in producing a balanced individual with connection to the metaphysical world in his life perfectly.

The article discusses impact of emotional stimuli on older adults’ intellect from Islamic psychospiritual perspective. The study elaborates intellect, emotion and emotional stimuli types with focuses on three stimulus that are sensory organ (hiss), cognitive or mind (ʽaql) and heart (qalb). It is suggested the positive emotional stimuli to be applied on older adult to enhance their attention and emotion. In collecting data, the study employs the method of literature review and uses the descriptive analysis in analysing data. The finding shows the positive emotional stimuli types comprising seeing the signs of Allah’s powerful, hearing good things, memorising and understanding the Quranic verses and reciting the dhikrullah and prayers will have impact on older adults’ intellect. It
suggests that the more often older adults visualise, listen, memorise and recite the suggested positive emotional stimuli, the stronger their memory becomes. They also appear to have a peace and happy mind, tranquillity and satisfaction.

According to the Islamic Education Philosophy, the success of the education system can be achieved when an individual who has total devotion to God in all areas could be produced. The objective of this paper is to develop a science spiritual model for preschool level to cultivate a balanced character of Muslim child as early as that, to be at the starting point to the formation of personality in the future. This model focusses on the development of the child's spiritual intelligence through comprehensive application of three skills such as cognitive intelligence, emotional intelligence and physically intelligence, all of which are part of the National Education Philosophy where it emerges in the implementation of contemplation (tafakkur). This approach is expected to endow with strong foundation for the students in developing their spiritual cognitive intellegence as a preparation to obtain the next level of education more efficiently, especially to strengthen their spiritual elements .

The term waswas appears five times in the Quran and seven times in seven Hadith books collections. Its interpretations by exegetes and scholars in Islamic studies vary, but one is associated with obsessive-compulsive disease (OCD). This is a study of the term waswas with the express objective of identifying its components that correspond to a contemporary understanding of OCD. This is a qualitative study that employs content and document analysis to examine chosen Islamic interpretation of the al-Quran, Hadith and traditional scholar viewpoints, with an emphasis on three characteristics of OCD: obsession, compulsive behaviour, and causation. The Quran and Hadith constitute the final miracle, transcending geographical and generational boundaries. Although OCD appears to be a recent diagnosis, its essence is mentioned in the magnificent Al-Quran.
