Graphs are considered as one of the most important tools to represent information, and as such, they are widely used across the Internet in various formats to visualize statistics and data. However, for the visually impaired individuals, who can presently rely only on the ALT attribute of images, receiving and interpreting information displayed in graphs is a highly challenging task. This paper presents a novel solution to this problem, called evoGraphs, which is a jQuery plugin that allows users to create fully dynamic, customizable graphs that are easily read by screen readers. In contrast to traditional images, the proposed approach relies on HTML, CSS and jQuery components in order to create graphs while reducing page load time and making the graphs readable by voiceover software applications and screen readers. This paper presents the design and customization of evo-Graphs. Examples are provided to highlight the advantages of the proposed methodology by comparing page load times of traditional image-based graphs with those produced by evoGraphs.

Discovering the Type 2 Diabetes in Electronic Health Records using the Sparse Balanced Support Vector Machine

The diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) at an early stage has a key role for an adequate T2D integrated management system and patient's follow-up. Recent years have witnessed an increasing amount of available Electronic Health Record (EHR) data and Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been considerably evolving. However, managing and modeling this amount of information may lead to several challenges such as overfitting, model interpretability and computational cost. Starting from these motivations, we introduced a ML method called Sparse Balanced Support Vector Machine (SB-SVM) for discovering T2D in a novel collected EHR dataset (named FIMMG dataset). In particular, among all the EHR features related to exemptions, examination and drug prescriptions we have selected only those collected before T2D diagnosis from a uniform age group of subjects. We demonstrated the reliability of the introduced approach with respect to other ML and Deep Learning approaches widely employed in the state-of-the-art for solving this task. Results evidence that the SB-SVM overcomes the other state-of-the-art competitors providing the best compromise between predictive performance and computation time. Additionally, the induced sparsity allows to increase the model interpretability, while implicitly managing high dimensional data and the usual unbalanced class distribution.

Social networking sites engage millions of users around the world. The users' interactions with these social sites, such as Twitter and Facebook have a tremendous impact and occasionally undesirable repercussions for daily life. The prominent social networking sites have turned into a target platform for the spammers to disperse a huge amount of irrelevant and deleterious information. Twitter, for example, has become one of the most extravagantly used platforms of all times and therefore allows an unreasonable amount of spam. Fake users send undesired tweets to users to promote services or websites that not only affect legitimate users but also disrupt resource consumption. Moreover, the possibility of expanding invalid information to users through fake identities has increased that results in the unrolling of harmful content. Recently, the detection of spammers and identification of fake users on Twitter has become a common area of research in contemporary online social Networks (OSNs). In this paper, we perform a review of techniques used for detecting spammers on Twitter. Moreover, a taxonomy of the Twitter spam detection approaches is presented that classifies the techniques based on their ability to detect: (i) fake content, (ii) spam based on URL, (iii) spam in trending topics, and (iv) fake users. The presented techniques are also compared based on various features, such as user features, content features, graph features, structure features, and time features. Secure Phrase Search for Intelligent Processing of Encrypted Data in Cloud-Based IoT

Phrase search allows retrieval of documents containing an exact phrase, which plays an important role in many machine learning applications for cloud-based IoT, such as intelligent medical data analytics. In order to protect sensitive information from being leaked by service providers, documents (e.g., clinic records) are usually encrypted by data owners before being outsourced to the cloud. This, however, makes the search operation an extremely challenging task. Existing searchable encryption schemes for multi-keyword search operations fail to perform phrase search, as they are unable to determine the location relationship of multiple keywords in a queried phrase over encrypted data on the cloud server side. In this paper, we propose P3, an efficient privacy-preserving phrase search scheme for intelligent encrypted data processing in cloud-based IoT. Our scheme exploits the homomorphic encryption and bilinear map to determine the location relationship of multiple queried keywords over encrypted data. It also utilizes a probabilistic trapdoor generation algorithm to protect users' search patterns. Thorough security analysis demonstrates the security guarantees achieved by P3. We implement a prototype and conduct extensive experiments on real-world datasets. The evaluation results show that compared with existing multikeyword search schemes, P3 can greatly improve the search accuracy with moderate overheads. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

Secure Data Group Sharing and Conditional Dissemination with Multi-Owner in Cloud Computing

With the rapid development of cloud services, huge volume of data is shared via cloud computing. Although cryptographic techniques have been utilized to provide data confidentiality in cloud computing, current mechanisms cannot enforce privacy concerns over ciphertext associated with multiple owners, which makes co-owners unable to appropriately control whether data disseminators can actually disseminate their data. In this paper, we propose a secure data group sharing and conditional dissemination scheme with multi-owner in cloud computing, in which data owner can share private data with a group of users via the cloud in a secure way, and data disseminator can disseminate the data to a new group of users if the attributes satisfy the access policies in the ciphertext. We further present a multiparty access control mechanism over the disseminated ciphertext, in which the data co-owners can append new access policies to the ciphertext due to their privacy preferences. Moreover, three policy aggregation strategies, including full permit, owner priority and majority permit, are provided to solve the privacy conflicts problem caused by different access policies. The security analysis and experimental results show our scheme is practical and efficient for secure data sharing with multi-owner in cloud computing.

Fuzzy Identity-Based Data Integrity Auditing for Reliable Cloud Storage Systems

Data integrity, a core security issue in reliable cloud storage, has received much attention. Data auditing protocols enable a verifier to efficiently check the integrity of the outsourced data without downloading the data. A key research challenge associated with existing designs of data auditing protocols is the complexity in key management. In this paper, we seek to address the complex key management challenge in cloud data integrity checking by introducing fuzzy identity-based auditing, the first in such an approach, to the best of our knowledge. More specifically, we present the primitive of fuzzy identity-based data auditing, where a user's identity can be viewed as a set of descriptive attributes. We formalize the system model and the security model for this new primitive. We then present a concrete construction of fuzzy identity-based auditing protocol by utilizing biometrics as the fuzzy identity. The new protocol offers the property of error-tolerance, namely, it binds with private key to one identity which can be used to verify the correctness of a response generated with another identity, if and only if both identities are sufficiently close. We prove the security of our protocol based on the computational Diffie-Hellman assumption and the discrete logarithm assumption in the selective-ID security model. Finally, we develop a prototype implementation of the protocol which demonstrates the practicality of the proposal.

A Secure Searchable Encryption Framework for Privacy- Critical Cloud Storage Services

Searchable encryption has received a significant attention from the research community with various constructions being proposed, each achieving asymptotically optimal complexity for specific metrics (e.g., search, update). Despite their elegance, the recent attacks and deployment efforts have shown that the optimal asymptotic complexity might not always imply practical performance, especially if the application demands a high privacy. In this article, we introduce a novel Dynamic Searchable Symmetric Encryption (DSSE) framework called Incidence Matrix (IM)-DSSE, which achieves a high level of privacy, efficient search/update, and low client storage with actual deployments on real cloud settings. We harness an incidence matrix along with two hash tables to create an encrypted index, on which both search and update operations can be performed effectively with minimal information leakage. This simple set of data structures surprisingly offers a high level of DSSE security while achieving practical performance. Specifically, IM-DSSE achieves forward-privacy, backward-privacy and size-obliviousness simultaneously. We also create several DSSE variants, each offering different trade-offs that are suitable for different cloud applications and infrastructures. We fully implemented our framework and evaluated its performance on a real cloud system (Amazon EC2). We have released IM-DSSE as an open-source library for wide development and adaptation.
