Ahead of her first Emmy Awards win on Monday, "The Bear" star Ayo Edebiri said she felt "lucky" to be walking the red carpet as a nominee. But the 28-year-old actor is also grateful for the basics — like dental coverage.

Decked out in a custom molded Louis Vuitton gown, Edebiri spoke with E! News red-carpet host Laverne Cox, herself a four-time Emmy nominee, before the awards show. Edebiri nabbed the award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy for her performance as Sydney in "The Bear."

Edebiri said that she feels like she's on "cloud eight-and-a-half" coming off her Golden Globes win earlier this month, not to mention her Critics Choice Awards best actress win on Sunday. But she told Cox that her aspirations when she was younger weren't quite as high as becoming an awards-season darling.

"She didn't dream of nights like this," Edebiri said of her younger self, reflecting on what message she'd pass on. "She sort of dreamed of just like, dental insurance."

She continued: "So I would say, 'We've got dental, we got eye, we got ear, we can go to the dermatologist, get that yearly checkup.' Check your moles people. Wear sunscreen even if you're Black, and check your moles."

The glam, however, is still a plus.

"And also, 'You get to wear custom Vuitton every now and again, and it's pretty cute,'" Edebiri said.

Edebiri gave an impactful speech at the 2024 Golden Globes in January, expressing gratitude for her "The Bear" family, her "real family," and her fellow nominees.

"There's so many people who I probably forgot to thank and — oh my god, all of my agent's and manager's assistants," she said. "The people who answer my emails. Y'all are real ones."
