Mr Lomax, a blind recluse; Robert, a telekinetic dwarf; Mr Jelly, an embittered clown; David, a serial-killer obsessed man-child; and deranged but caring midwife Joy, each receive a black edged card bearing the anonymous message: "I know what you did." As the past catches up with these five seemingly unconnected characters, we begin to delve into their present-day lives.
