Not tired of sequels or remakes yet? You're officially in luck, because Twisters — the standalone sequel to 1996's Twister — is arguably better than the original. Storm chasers, weather enthusiasts and natural phenomenon lovers, get ready for your latest fix.
Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Hit Man) and Anthony Ramos (In The Heights, Hamilton). Edgar-Jones plays Kate Cooper, who is lured back into the world of tornado observations by her friend Javi (Ramos) to test out new storm tracking equipment. In Kate and Javi's adventures, they encounter Tyler Owens (Powell), who thrives off of sharing his storm chasing habits to social media. Things, naturally, turn awry after tracking systems clash and sees the unlikely trio fighting for their lives. What happens next, you ask? Read on to find out how to watch the film for yourself — no spoilers here!
When was Twisters released? And is it already on streaming?
Not yet, my friend. Twisters hit theaters on July 19, so it needed a chance to rack up at least some cash in the box office before arriving on a streaming platform near you. If you're positively itching to drool over Glen Powell in IMAX 3-D catch Twisters sooner rather than later, sorry to devastate you like that.
Where will Twisters be available to watch, and when will it go on streaming?
Twisters is produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. NBCUniversal owns Peacock, and as such, has a deal that allows all new Universal films to be available to rent or buy on the service as soon as 45 days after their theatrical release. Great news: it was just announced that the movie will be streaming on November 15!
So...I don't have Peacock — can I watch Twisters on Prime Video, HBO Max or Netflix?
No dice, babes — because Universal is owned by NBCUniversal, and NBCUniversal owns Peacock, it's highly unlikely that Twisters will be able to stream on any other platform, at least for the time being. Don't feel too crestfallen, though: You can also purchase the movie on digital when the time arises.
Purchasing Twisters can be avoided by signing up for a Peacock's 7-day free trial if you haven't already. After the 7-day free trial, membership starts at $5.99 — a price that drops to $1.99 if you're a student — but if you don't wanna add another streamer to your expenses, the membership can also be cancelled at anytime. The more you know!
