Just when you thought the tea on Selling Sunset couldn't get more hot (like, remember when Christine Quinn was on the show?), Netflix dropped season eight, which left our jaws on the floor on more than one occasion. From Nico the dog's funeral to Chelsea Lazkani's relationship breakdown, Chrishell Stause also found herself in a difficult position over Amanza Smith's birthday party, due to a previous experience she had with her stylist, Sammie Moussallem. But what actually happened?
What happened between Chrishell and Amanza in Selling Sunset season 8?
Amanza celebrates her 47th birthday in the new season of the real estate docuseries, throwing a big party for all of her close friends and family. Ahead of the big day, she messages all of her fellow agents at The Oppenheim Group, and is surprised not to hear back from them.
Chrishell later reveals she was apprehensive about attending, because of a previous experience she had with Amanza's fashion stylist named Sammie. In a cutaway interview, Chrishell explained:
"I feel like I’ve made a lot of headway with Amanza and my relationship with her, but I am just a little nervous to go to her birthday to be in the same room with the stylist that she worked with just because he was upset that I corrected him stating he was a stylist for me.
"So then he went on a very public rant just saying I’m a fake lesbian, that I’m nothing but a green card to G [Flip, her partner], saying that I’ve gotta get some d*** in my hole. Like what does this have to do with G. And everyone’s like, ‘Oh, but he’s gay.’ Does that excuse any of those comments? It makes it worse, to be honest.”
Amanza ended up uninviting Sammie from her birthday party.
What happened between Chrishell and Sammie?
Back in June 2023, Sammie was interviewed by Vice about the costumes on Selling Sunset, alleging he had dressed Chrishell in an Ivy Park x Adidas jumpsuit, which led to the brand sending him more clothes for the agents to wear.
Chrishell then shared an Instagram Story to insist Sammie hadn't styled her on the show, writing:
"Most won’t know what this is about so just skip and I refuse to give attention to those so desperately seeking it while trying to completely twist things. An article came out where a stylist was quoted as having put me in the Ivy Park jumpsuit but I bought that suit and did not work with a stylist for any of Selling Sunset.
"I had Vice change the article to reflect the truth. I worked with this person once on a shoot many years ago and have ignored the spiralling rants of ongoing DMs and voice notes he has since sent. I have never tried to discredit this person — but I will correct things that aren’t true. Blocked and moving on."
She also shared a similar sentiment on X, formerly known as Twitter:
Sammie then shared an Instagram post about Chrishell, accusing her of "bullying" and "discrediting" him, and for forgetting a shoot they had worked on together.
He then also shared a series of Instagram Stories, one of which showed him blocking Chrishell, adding text which read: "Chrishell please stop being lesbian the acting is not real. The proof is all I need. So Chrisell [sic] stick a d cause our h o l e g flip hasn’t given you any action."
What has Sammie said about what happened with Chrishell?
On 7th September 2024, days after Selling Sunset season eight came out, Sammie publicly apologised for what he said about Chrishell, telling PEOPLE:
"I apologise for it. Six months ago, me being a professional, I tried to contact her many times, whether through my publicist or through my manager who represents me to contact her to have a conversation with her and she hasn't responded.
"I said it out of spite and what I said before, I didn't really mean. I overreacted ... I should have never said what I said on social media. We're adults ... and it's affected my business, me being silent to the situation that happened prior as well too, and my livelihood and everything like that. And I would like to move on from this and be adults. We're both members of the LGBTQ community. I'm a member, and she's a member..."
So far, Chrishell hasn't spoken out further about where she stands with Sammie now.
