Fox News has always been on the front lines of the great war of our time, the War on Christmas. It seems like only yesterday that General Bill O'Reilly drew the first battle lines, declaring with pantomime outrage that a sign that once read, "Merry Christmas!" now had the audacity to say, "Happy Holidays!" This, of course, was an outright assault on Traditional Values and The American Way of Life. Fox News wouldn't stand for it then and they won't stand for it now.
Except, it seems, when sending their own holiday cards:
"Seasons Greetings"? Seasons-fucking-Greetings? Just when we all thought that Donald Trump's victory would bring an end to The War. Granted, it's not quite as egregious an attack on religious liberty as the term "happy holidays." And they did take a subtle swipe at it by refusing to include an apostrophe. But this is a startling development. It's almost like Fox wanted to send a greeting card that would make everyone who received it feel included. It's almost like the network doesn't, at the end of the day, believe there is a real War on Christmas, and is just serving up infotainment outrage porn to keep viewers angry, resentful, and tuned in.
